2. Max Baucus- Campaign contributions by industry
Lawyers/Law Firms $1,579,973

Insurance $1,170,313

4. So... it's being talked about now. So let's let them talk and weigh in,
in a big way. What are the choices? Why not?

19. Ah, please, I'm tired. Let's go after the ones that deserve it,
lay off the ones that don't, and get along little doggies.

I'm "tired" of being angry.

But, I'm still angry.I love my new prez, but he's pissing me off. :grr:

18. The only people with a seat are those who pay the $$$
That is what is playing out RIGHT NOW, in real time. You don't need to wait to see it, turn on CSPAN. Now you are correct of course in that we cannot know what the end result of all this will be, but it seems pretty clear that if you don't even have a seat at the negotiating table there's a problem. Surely you can see that.

22. How about a tax on all money given as lobbying contributions.
Then that money is given to the opponents of the person that received the original contribution. Both primary and in other party, or if a person meets some signature requirement.

It would put a big hurt on buying politicians.

It would say that money is not the criteria for public service.

7. Not when the people are not given a seat at the table when discussing policy that effect us.
Not when the people are arrested for standing up and demanding their rights to speech and participation in the system.

The OP is correct.

8. Not when the taxes on the rich are so pathetically low
50%+ of what the elected representatives "hear" is from the top 1%. The "majority" ruling here is the dollar-amped voice of the wealthy families and corporations.

10. Trillions for Wall Street. Trillions for War in Iraq and Afghanistan...
...A few billion for Detroit and the few remaining good-paying manufacturing jobs that once built the middle class.

Zip for the rest of us.

14. Well you know what ahem happens when a people loose all hope
of change... I think I'd better quote Kennedy on this

Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable. John F. Kennedy, In a speech at the White House, 1962

We may be in for a nasty surprise... or we may be in for a nasty surprise, either way.

Me, I am a top rated cynic... I realized a while ago that change will not come, regardless of who is in charge. Cannot happen since we are an Empire

Yep, call me a cynic

15. Fucking HA!! Democracy *is* politically viable for a avg minimum wage of $8.65/hr don't kid yerself
It has been the scheme of all globalists since Reagan...pay them enough to buy a new pair of Levi's every so maybe a movie and dinner 'out' maybe if in the event they HAVE any spare time, etc, some broadband (very important so we can sit here and think we're uber-cool and shit :eyes:), etc, etc, etc, yada-yada, blah-blah ahhhhh...

But pay them too little and the incidence of revolt is enhanced, increased among the rabble and we just can't have that cause the oligarchy is keyed upon structured chaos = no 'unforeseeable inequities' and shit like that...

It's already in the bag, it's a done deal. Democracy *is* viable at an avg minimum wage of $8.65/hr don't kid yerself thus spake the over lords

Lap it up my kittehs...it's warm and it's good for you :headbang:

They need to learn why defying us is just as dangerous as defying corporate lobbyists. Let's show them what's politically viable!
