Really? Charlie Crist?
Edited on Tue May-12-09 10:35 PM by Christian30
So Crist is running for the Senate despite being exposed as a closeted, hypocritical gay man. This is what the Republicans have been brought to?

In April 2009, Crist became one of the subjects in Kirby Dick's documentary Outrage, a Tribeca Film Festival feature about politicians who the film claims are "closeted" and vote against gay rights. This led many in the press to speculate about the veracity of the claims in the documentary and also publicly debate Crist's right to privacy. Some viewed Crist as a victim of "outing" and/or being unfairly maligned. Other main stream media outlets looked at the movie solely from a political and tactical perspective and reported that the documentary is likely to be referenced in upcoming elections. Political analysts also debated what the appropriate tactical response from Crist should be in light of upcoming gubernatorial and senate races in Florida.

Edited to fix Crist's name. Apparently, he is not the son of our Lord. ;)

3. " closeted, hypocritical gay man."?
This 'gay' man supported Obama, too. He supports Florida. What is it exactly you don't like? That he might be gay, or that he might be progressive?

4. Crist is a slimy rethug who will say and do anything to get elected
He's been climbing the political ladder at a steady pace since the 1990s, holding on to one position for a few years before advancing to the next. As our attorney general, he held the nickname "Chain Gang Charlie" for his conservative "get tough" stance on crime.

It's impossible to know what Crist really stands for, since he's shown that he's willing to transform himself into whatever he needs to be in order to get elected.

10. No, it's not impossible. There are two things this guy did.
Allow fair elections in FL when he was called out about that, and the stim package. I wonder. It's interesting the fawning from the rethug party.

I think we need to encourage Crist to become a Democrat!

5. That he supported Amendment 2
While he was not as big a cheerleader as other Republicans, Crist did endorse and vote for Amendment 2, which outlawed gay marriage in the Florida constitution. I find it the height of hypocrisy that a gay man would throw his own community under the bus to avoid pissing off Christian fundamentalists.

13. Where do you live?
Crist supported Obama very recently on the stimulus plan. That's why it's weird the rethugs are still on board with Crist.

7. Charley
You are all being silly here, of course I support him. All of you should support him too, don't you realize how much fun this will be? The split in the Fla. rethugs will be a thing of beauty, and our best chance for a Senator with a D in Fla. Also don't forget, he engineered a huge land buy for the state that may save Lake Okeechobee. Before you go off on me, I know it was a great deal for US Sugar, but Fla. now owns the land and that's a good thing.

8. The crazy right will be going after him hard. The freepers are already throwing the 'gay' slur
around, and worse. Should be interesting to watch.

9. Have they ever found Jason Wetherington?
He was exiled to Georgia about the time that Crist was supposedly eligible for the McCain VP slot.
