I know what DU is missing these days.
Outrage.

Pure, unbridled outrage.

It was well deserved and well needed when bushco was in power (not that they are completely out of power now).

But with the election of Obama, and with Dems now in power, and the "let's not look back but look forward" mantra slowly seeping in - the cries for justice and an end to the past and current transgressions of our government falling to a whisper, the outrage here has seemed to undergo a relative decline.

Don't' get me wrong. I'm glad there is talk of investigation into torture. We don't do that. Thank you Obama for saying so. And maybe I'm not listening hard enough but I hear little about the wrongs of preemptive attacks on other nations. I hear little about prosecution for those who lied this nation and some nations of the world into an unnecessary war against Iraq. I hear little anymore about the tens of thousands that died needlessly at our nation's hands. I hear very little these days about prosecuting those responsible.

I remember when it was happening. The posts here. "Don't do it George!" was a fucking mantra before the freedom bombs started falling. I remember the outrage here as the cries of millions around the world were ignored, and the false premises shouted by the media as the attack began. I remember the pictures posted here soon afterward. Death on a grand scale thanks to the liars in office, drawing artificial deadlines and shouting "9*11" at the top of their lungs. And it went on for months and years. And it goes on today.

I remember the alert levels. I remember the terrorizing of the public at the hands of the bush regime and the media. I remember the fear-mongering and the finger-pointing. I remember the push-back here. DU as one of the early and lone voices.

And I don't see it much anymore.

Don't see the anger and the call for justice much anymore.

Maybe me being away for days and weeks at a time now, I've missed some of it.

And we can investigate torture until our faces turn blue or until most forget. But we still are not investigating, to much of a meaningful degree, the lies of the government before, during and after 9*11. Before, during and after (not quite to after yet, are we?) the bloody attack on Iraq.

And we should be. So many dead for those lies.

And the outrage here, just seems to have fallen into the abyss.

Mushroom clouds over American cities? He's got 'em? We know where they are? People should watch what they say?

Have we all just forgotten?

Rant off/

1. you think I'm not outraged, Skip?
I WILL KICK YOUR ASS

I am still pretty fucking angry - glad to see a REAL president but still very angry over what has happened and how I believe ultimately, they will get away with it

You make me laugh. As much as I can laugh about this thread.

Yes, Skittles, I DO want you to kick my ass.

They cannot get away with it.

Oh, it kills me that Cheney is out there spewing his bullshit and nobody is calling him on his fucking war department. Fucking bastard. I just hope I get to watch when karma finally pays him a visit. That's not wrong, is it?

2. Many here may simply feel that our long national nightmare is over.
The adults are back in charge, and that's that.

Many here don't.

5. I beg to differ, we've just moved to another phase....
...the outrage was there to keep a light, however dim, on the crimes of Two Shoes and Shitstain. We've now entered the-careful-deliberation-before-we-arrest-the-fuckers phase, which is designed to expose to full sunlight the bug fuckery committed in our names. The next phase will be the full out fusillade of retribution.

7. No
Some of us are still outraged

Then we hoped

We're again outraged.

If you were gone, you may have missed the attempted pacification by the sycophants. The shouting down of dissidents. The snarky instructions to shut the fuck up and wait.

But the anger was and is there.

Oh look ...... a picture thread .... :swoon: <---my attempt to blend in.

11. Disagree!
Two *amn wars out of control, a lack of official investigations on torture, 911 still a cover up. Don't get me started. What am I doing about it? Still calling and writing, still standing on the corner twice a week.

14. Ummmm...you missed this....
Tombstone Alley...

Gone...Gone...many voices who were the ones who worked hardest...over the years.

"SLAD" just got the chicklet.

There isn't a place for this anger and activism, anymore. We are the ones that are in power.

Some of us still try. But, if one posts an "Action Alert" there's little response these days. Folks are tired of doing this and getting nothing in return. That's another part of it.

Some of us still try...but it's like rolling that boulder up the mountain...there just isn't the fellow help needed to keep pushing and that damned boulder keeps rolling back and killing some who've been helping.

Just saying... since you say you are "in and out" here. You might have missed the "morph" and the "pizza deliveries." (Not that some or many pizza's got delivered to the right houses)...but that many others got deliveries to the possible wrong addresses to keep this site as "activist" as you are seeming to be looking for. Just saying.

15. Well that is a shame.
I don't know. I was here from before Iraq was an issue, and through the primaries. I have been a little scarce since then. And I did see a few get deliveries that were long overdue. But in the final measure, what you describe really is a shame.

Thanks for the info, KoKo.
