Jury still out in 'Liberty City 6' terrorism case

MIAMI -- A Miami jury has deliberated for five days without reaching a verdict in the third trial of the "Liberty City Six" terrorism case.

Jurors have sent out no notes or messages since deliberations began last Tuesday. The first two trials of the six defendants from an inner-city Miami neighborhood ended in mistrials when juries failed to reach verdicts.

The six men are accused of conspiring with an FBI informant posing as an al-Qaida operative to destroy Chicago's Sears Tower and bomb FBI offices. The purported plots never progressed far and investigators found no explosives or heavy weapons.

The group's leader, 35-year-old Narseal Batiste, says he never planned any attacks and was playing along with the informant in hopes of getting money.
