Tweety/Media shocked about Romney donations
The word is out in the LDS (Mormon) church that the presidency could be theirs. They will make the evangelicals look like kindergartners in their ability to donate and to get out the vote.

This is an observation rather than a criticism. For those of you who don't know Mormonism, the buzz is that every Mormon ward is preparing to be a campaign outlet for Romney. They will tithe 10% to the church and another 10% to Romney to make the presidency their own.

2. Romney is Mormon
He is one of them. He, like they, believe the men will become Gods of their own planets. They also believe in baptism of the dead. Israel has gotten quite upset with them.

Having the president one of their own would legitimize their own rather weird beliefs.

9. It's one of the fastest growing religions in the country
Not counting Utah, Idaho, Oregon, Arizona have HUGE populations. We have 3 mormon churches in a town of fewer than 50K and there are mormon churches in every small town around here. Besides they are building temples in just about every major city. They also have lots of money.

4. problem is, there are not that many Mormons
I think they top out at 5 million or so (in the US) and 4 million are in Utah and Idaho with our 10 electoral votes (yippie).

12. But how many are Jack Mormans? (just joking) That's not that many, especially
because that figure probably includes children below the voting age.

You are correct about the money aspect. Busy as bees, and on a mission from Smith.

6. a problem for Romney and the LDS, a solution for the rest of us!
I doubt the overall evangelical base will turn out heavily to support a Mormon candidate, the LDS will be hard-pressed to pick up the slack.

Unless the Dem candidate is Hillary -- the fundies would vote for Satan Himself if he was running against her.

21. thus doubling the GOP's usual winning margins in Idaho and Utah
If Romney wins the presidency, it will be through an unprecedented appeal to the religiously moderate and apathetic. He's won statewide in Massachusetts, so it's possible for him to do this quite well, but it'll be a much different face for the GOP to wear if he's the nominee.

11. suppose the church was laundering money and giving it to individuals to donate to a candidate?
the institution has gobs of money, way more than any individual member. so they kick back cash to members with the understanding the money will go to their favorite candidate if any.

hmmm

knowing that Salt Lake will approve. You need to understand the church strokes its own. The LDS businesses will profit for their allegiance to Romney.

If you don't have an insight into Mormonism you don't understand it. Romney and his Mormon followers understand their religious dictates.

17. Any Dem candidate beats the crap out of Romney
He's a flip-flopping Mormon. Sorry, but neither moderates, nor independents, nor Evangelicals, nor Democrats will vote for him.

He's quite easy to beat, I think.
