Drunk Driver Sentenced in Six Deaths - 64 years to life
Drunk Driver Sentenced in Six Deaths

MARYSVILLE, CA - A Yuba County man who was behind the wheel in a drunk driving crash that killed six members of a Marysville family was sentenced on Friday.

Yuba County Superior Court Judge Julia Scogin sentenced Bradley Bledsoe, 30, of Linda, to 64 years to life in prison for his six convictions on second degree murder, gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, and felony hit and run charges.

Bledsoe, who has two previous DUI convictions, sat quietly in court as victims' family members spoke about the devastating impact of the deaths.

In September of 2006, Bledsoe was driving on Highway 70 in Olivehurst when he clipped a Suburban which then slammed into a tree. Bledsoe fled the scene but was later arrested at his home.

Thomas and Maribel Negrete, their children, Eric and Cesar, and Maribel's parents, Jose and Maria Raya were killed in the crash.

1. Good. Fine application of the law. He should have done jail time for his
previous two convictions.

2. Wow, you mean they actually gave a drunk
driving murdering motherfucker more than a slap on the wrist for killing six people? Amazing. That needs to happen a LOT more. In fact, he should have gotten life without the possibility of parole, period.

5. 64 years before he can be considered for parole is probably stiffer than
most life sentences. He's 30--he'll be eligible when he's 94.

4. No happy ending anywhere here, but certainly the least he deserved.

6. Sounds habitual with the two DUI convictions and stated long criminal history
Citing Bledsoe's long criminal history, repeated parole violations, and 105 jail misconduct reports since his arrest, Scogin declined a defense request for Bledsoe to serve all of the murder convictions concurrently.
