Florida man who killed wife and family...obituary for him. None for the family.
They are not even mentioned in the obituary. I am sure his family paid for it, as obits are paid in that paper....but couldn't they mention the names of his wife and two children that he shot with a high-powered rifle?

The obituary mentions his son, Nathan, whom he was trying to kill as he ran to neighbors.

There is something very wrong about this.

Here is the story from CNN.

Florida man kills wife, 2 kids, himself, officials say

(CNN) -- A man shot and killed his wife and two of their children and then killed himself in central Florida on Sunday night, authorities said.

Troy Ryan Bellar, 34, used a high-powered rifle with a scope to shoot his 31-year-old wife, Wendy, when she tried to leave their home, the Polk County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.

Two of the couple's children -- 5-month-old Zack and 7-year-old Ryan -- also were killed, but a 13-year-old got away, with the father chasing and firing after him, officials said.

"It is beyond my understanding why a man would shoot and kill his 5-month-old baby boy, his 7-year-old baby boy, try to kill his 13-year-old son, shoot his wife and then turn the gun on himself," said Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd. "There is no explanation for that."

The shootings happened in Lakeland, Florida, just east of Tampa.

When the shooting began, the couple's son, Nathan, ran out of the house and down the street -- with his dad chasing him through the garage and firing several shots, authorities said.

Here is the obituary for Troy Bellar. I would like to post one for the family he murdered, but I can't find one.

The link may go to the search page, so just type in Bellar.

Troy Bellar obit which does not mention the family he murdered.

3. Isn't that tragic they would say that?
Putting the link again, as it doesn't seem to stick.

http://www.legacy.com/theledger/Obituaries.asp?Page=SearchResults

That is not true, and you should read the guest book. No one even mentions the ones who were killed.

I know it is a delicate situation, but one does not just ignore that a family was murdered.

6. It may be.........
that the mother and kids are being buried somewhere else.

Do you know where she was from, born and raised? It might be someplace other than where they died.

That's the only explanation I can give for the omission.

It might have been nice, I guess, if they'd put in a line like "He was predeceased by his wife and two sons," but if I were a member of his family, I can imagine not wanting to acknowledge any of it.

Why they would put an obituary in the paper in the first place is beyond me. And a memorial service? I'd have kept it all private, I think.

But, you never know until it happens to you, I guess.

Horrible. Just horrible.........................

8. She was fairly local....father a minister. I think she was leaving him.
http://www.polkcountydemocrat.com/articles/2009/05/06/news/local/doc4a00d70ce1354805646184.txt

"When the shooting began, Nathan ran out of the house, with his father chasing him through the garage. Bellar fired several shots at his son, deputies said, but did not hit him. Bellar apparently tripped on a bicycle and fell, but got up and fired more shots at Nathan before killing himself.

Nathan ran to a neighbor’s house, where a woman called 911 and told the dispatcher the son saw it all. A recording of the call shows that the dispatcher said she knows it will be hard, but asks the woman to ask if Nathan thinks his mother is alive.

He replied, and the neighbor told the dispatcher, “She got shot in the head.”

The neighbor said she heard shots and saw someone fall.

Deputies canvassed the neighborhood and said no one else was injured by any of the shots.

Wendy Bellar had been charged with battery/domestic violence in March. Troy Bellar told officers that his wife “hit, punched, scratched and swung jeans” at him, but that he was not hurt.

Troy Bellar had an arrest 15 years ago for aggravated assault and armed robbery, and 10 years ago for driving under the influence.

Both Wendy and Troy Bellar are former Bartow residents. Her parents are Rhoda and Father Cecil Radcliffe. Former rector of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Bartow, he is now rector at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Kissimmee.

Troy Bellar’s parents are Jim and Doris Bellar of Bartow. Nathan is reported to be staying with them".

9. Another explanation may be
that the mother and children - their bodies - are still in state custody, being autopsied. Some place, these things take time, even when the cause of death is obvious.

Or maybe her family is just so distraught, they're keeping it all private.

There are no good answers.................

10. That was my first thought, too. Still being autopsied, no death certificate yet. NT
