There is a unit you've probably seen advertised on television some time ago that hooks to your t.v. audio out and has head phones that allows you to listen to t.v. from across the room at a regular volume level. These can be bought in stores like Radio Shack and they do work. I've had one for many years..had to replace it once. It's great and I recommend it for those whose hearing is gone enough to want to raise the volume on the t.v. and don't want to bother others so you just watch the pictures. It will also work when the sound on the t.v. is muted and you can listen when no one else is.
