2. I would have thought the Revolutionary Wars were more fitting

When you consider that the US won that war involving an overwhelmingly powerful occupying force and a rag-tag bands of rebels. Odd that a nation born from an insurgency could forget so much of the history and refuse to learn any lessons from its own past.
