Three LTTEs to our "librul" newspaper...
These are just from today's paper, which is regularly excoriated as a liberal rag. The sentiments expressed in these letters exemplify the mindsets we have to deal with on a daily basis, mindsets that become more adamant during campaign seasons. That said, the last two cycles have seen some success from our efforts to drag this part of the state, however kicking and screaming, from the 19th century into the 20th. We'll get to the 21st eventually. By the way, the writer of the third letter is known to me and I have heard her brag that her entire family are members of the Klan.

(1) Plenty of blame to go around for Democrats

I’m an 81-year-old man born in 1928, and grew up during the so-called Great Depression, which was bad but nothing like we are going through now.

Throwing away money not knowing where it is going and giving billions of dollars to 17 banks in foreign countries; what is going on? The Democrats are blaming President Bush for this when Chris Dodd and Barney Frank were supposed to be the watchdogs to control Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

President Bush warned them to put some controls on them as he felt they were getting out of hand, and Dodd and Frank said they are doing a great job. Sen. McCain tried to present a bill that would make them get control of the two, and the Democrats wouldn’t vote on it.

Now who is to blame for this mess? President Obama dazzled the people with glorious speeches during his campaign. He said there would be no more pork, but look, hundreds of pork projects in his stimulus packages. Many of these have nothing to do with creating jobs. Heaven forbid he doesn’t lie. Well he couldn’t take time to check everything, nor did Congress.

Should we be worried? I think so. Think about it. We are in debt up to our ears and maybe more, and our children will never get out of debt the way President Obama is putting us in deeper and deeper. We may not recover. Maybe the terrorist leader is right, unless we wake up America.

(2) Obama, Mr. Potter collecting on misery

Bush’s financiers commit “nation building” to make money, Obama’s commit “nation busting.” Capitalism’s oil is paying plain Iraqis thanks to some mission accomplished, and I see no one complaining.

Obama’s liberal wellspring flows in part from crashed economies and suffrage. George Soros makes money like Mr. Potter in “It’s a Wonderful Life.” Manufacturing a panic, the nasty Potter calls the note on Bedford Falls’ bank, which closes to stop customers from draining the vault.

Desperate bank customers swarm the Bailey Savings and Loan for a week’s cash. Bailey warns, “Don’tcha see? Potter isn’t selling; he’s buying!” (accounts at 50 cents on the dollar.)

Soros bets weak nations’ currencies will drop in value, crushing economic output and ramping inflation if possible, and collecting after devaluation just like Potter. His strategy requires upheaval to work. Feeling upheaved yet?

With friends in Oval places, Soros can bet the mighty dollar drops, too, crush GDP and invite inflation: witness lost TARPs, “stimulus” which aren’t, boondoggle bailouts, earmarks galore, printing mad cash, collapsed stocks and real estate. Wait. Panic. Collect. Rahm Emanuel warns not to waste a crisis (like China calling their note). Welcome to Pottersville. Soros speaking at Berkeley said it was important to prop weak nations at the margin. No wonder, their next currency crash fuels his bookie.

We witness Obama distractions in the news, but I think he honestly wants business to grind to a halt, so the dollar drops for Soros, et al. Guess who will get to buy devalued mortgage assets backed by taxpayer loan guarantees? If we peons are to be forever buffeted by billionaire robber barons’ manipulations, I choose the evil capitalists over the evil hedge fund speculators like Soros. Capitalists lift all boats in their frenzy, while Obama’s Soros wrecks them, collecting on misery. Miserable?

(3) Story left out much important information

I have been a loyal subscriber to The Tribune for more than 30 years. I have not always agreed with the positions taken by the editors or some of the reporters.

I was disturbed by the April 19 article “Unwanted Potential” because of the tone of the article. The young man is an illegal alien whose parents deliberately broke the law. The article mentioned that the father was possibly going to be deported as he was involved in the Number Games at Amalia’s Tax Service.

What wasn’t mentioned was the father was probably using a false Social Security number or had stolen someone else’s identity.

I doubt that there is a medical school anywhere that would accept a student with a grade-point average of 2.1 or, worse yet, 1.3.

More to the point, would you want a doctor who gets depressed or apathetic over adversity? The counselor asks, “What are we going to do for this kid?” Not mentioned was that “Juan” and his brother probably qualified for reduced price or free lunches. This would also waive the fees and costs associated with various classes. So for the past 11 years, he may have gotten a free education at the expense of the taxpayers.

Why should we be responsible to do anything else for him? Since The Tribune has raised its rates and has become a propaganda vehicle for the illegals, I am canceling my subscription.

1. I wonder if Moron #2 meant "suffering" instead of "suffrage"
Moron #1 was one year old when the Great Depression began. He thinks things are worse now than then, but I believe people who were all grown up at that time might possibly disagree with him.
