Dems need to recruit Crist
If Crist runs for senate in FL, he will win the general. However, he may lose the Republican primary. Crist has shown an affinity for some Democratic issues and is also a capable governor. If Dems recruit him for the senate spot, we could get FL sown up and maybe finally make a dent in FL's Republican only identity.

2. Republicans in FL aren't going to be too happy about this:
GOP governor eyeing Senate run to be outed in film tomorrow

The Republican governor of Florida, Charlie Crist, who is strongly considering a run for Senate, will be outed in a independent film being released tomorrow.

The film, “Outrage,” tracks the outings of prominent gay political figures, such as Crist and former Republican National Committee Chairman Ken Mehlman. It’s being produced by Magnolia Pictures and will appear in Landmark Theaters across the country.

“Using some firsthand accounts of former sexual partners, old campaign footage (to occasionally humorous effect) and commentary from gay political media watchdogs, the film makes the case for each man’s homosexuality, and presents his lifetime gay rights voting record,” according to one reviewer. “In each instance, the disconnect is staggering.

“The usual suspects are all there: Craig, Florida Governor Charlie Crist, former New York mayor Ed Koch, former New Jersey Governor Jim McGreevey, former Rep. Ed Schrock, even dusty McCarthy relic Roy Cohn. Again, if you’re reading this review, then you’re likely no stranger to gay media, particularly gay online media (which is credited in the film as being one of the few places where these scandals are openly discussed) and none of these men is an unfamiliar candidate for speculation.”

3. NO!
Crist is an empty suit, he has no core values, he just sits back and sees which way the wind blows. During the recent FL Legislative session, Crist showed absolutely no leadership in resolving the budget crisis. Crist would absolutely be in over his head as a Senator, and I don't think he would bring anything to the table as a Dem. My own preference would be for Bob Graham to come out of retirement and run for Senator again, but realistically there are many qualified Dem candidates without having to draft a republican lightweight.

6. As Gov, he's been somewhat a moderate...
... cause FL's a purple state. Earlier, as a state legislator, he was known as a RWer - sometimes refered to as "Chain-gang Charlie" because he advocated bringing back chain-gangs. Whatever position is needed to get elected he'll take - he has no core beliefs, operates by pandering to the most voters.
