Post the phone numbers of the unsolicited phone calls you get
here...:

Please copy this post and add your number to it. I have been getting second warning calls regarding the warranty on my vehicle... most recently this one which I haven't answered has been showing up. When attempting to call it I get a busy signal every time. I wonder if there is a way to forward these calls to our congresscritters, after which I am sure they would either diminish or stop entirely. Where is the FCC when you need them?

1. I got a lot of those calls for the same reason (warranty expiration) when I bought my cell phone
it took MONTHS for them to go away...............but they eventually get the picture.

Good luck.

2. Well, it's become a pandemic of sorts, I was wondering about
the legality of cell phone harassment on a daily basis.

6. I have, too... But scam artists ignore that registry...
Legitimate telemarketers obey the list, but scammers don't.

3. Just google the number...
Edited on Wed May-06-09 05:56 PM by targetpractice
You'll get a page of results from sites like whocallsme.com and 800notes.com -- These sites serve the purpose of this thread.

I always google unknown numbers before I answer, and would never call them back. Calling back validates that there is a real human on your end. I also add the number to a contact in my phonebook called "DO NOT ANSWER" so that it pops up on my caller ID in the future. I've also assigned a custom silent ringtone to my "DO NOT ANSWER" contact.

As you can see from the comments on 800notes.com and whocallsme.com the number you posted is auto-dialing cell phones recently. Some commenters have identified the company, and another claims that they answered, listened to the message and was given an option to opt out of further calls by pressing #2. I'd take the comments on the above sites with a grain of salt.

If you are getting these kinds of calls, it's probably a scam from someone who is ignoring the Do Not Call Registry... Even more reason not to answer at all, since they aren't playing by the rules.

I choose to simply ignore the calls and check voice mail. If caller can't leave a voice mail, then it must not have been important.

14. There's a web site that collects these calls and posts comments about them:
http://whocalled.us

Lots of interesting info here.

17. I'm with you on this
I find the worst offenders, however, often plug in the "private" status to cover themselves from being identified, and that pisses me off all the more. If there is a message, and it's a robocall, or if they don't ID themselves on the voice mail, too bad.

Lately, I've been using 800notes more and more it seems, trying to figure out who they are, if I have even a number to check out.

19. My Mom compulsively answers every single call she gets...
... even if she's on the other line. She get really irritated at these calls. I've tried to explain the value of voicemail again and again. ;-)

4. I filed a complaint with the Iowa A.G.'s office
as well as the Florida A.G.'s office and the do not call list. I filed these complaints about the following number-407-658-4336. Apparently it's based in Orlando, Fla. I decided to try and engage the guy in conversation last week and it went something like this. "Press 1" and I did.
Him. "What make and model is your car?"
Me. "Hey, I'd like for you people to stop calling me."
Him- "How do you think Obama is doing so far?"
Me, after a slight hesitation. It threw me a bit. "I think he's doing a pretty good job".
Him. "Then I'm calling you again".
Me. Screaming at him- "STOP CALLING ME YOU BASTARDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Me. Click.
Then I filed complaints with the aforementioned agencies. And contacting Congress people may not be a bad idea.
One more thing. These phone nos. are being spoofed. I called the number back and was told that it has been disconnected.

7. Here's some info about the scumsuckers:
http://i.gizmodo.com/5217171/no-my-warranty-isnt-about-to-expire-stop-fcking-calling-me

These ridiculous people at National Auto Warranty Services (US Fidelis) are the only people to ever spam-call me on my cellphone. Now I know why.

After I told them to take me off their call list for the fifth time, I suspected something was fishy. This Reddit user finds out that they just don't give a shit about anything.

The company's been making calls since January '08, and has even been sued by AT&T and Verizon for spam calling their customers. For some reason, they still keep calling and making offers (legit or not, I'm not sure) about extending your factory insurance for your vehicle. If you've been getting these calls—and a lot of us here have been—hit up Reddit to see how you can file a complaint.

I never answer them, so they change their number and call back. I had this post made up with all the numbers, and something happened to it. Arrrrrrrgh!

11. I got those calls about every other night or so after I bought my car...
TWO years ago. I also received blurbs in the mail that it was my last chance to sign up for the warranty. That happened for two years.

The calls became more and more to the point where I finally picked it up and demanded to know why they were hounding me. She got nasty and said I had signed up for it. I told her she had no right to call me, that I never signed up for it and wanted her to stop calling.

She got so demanding, I hung up on her.

That was the end of it.

They are awful and it's bad enough to make me think twice about buying another vehicle.

12. It's a scam. Don't buy anything from them, period.
You're better to take your chances and have repairs done out of pocket when needed. Extended warranties are worthless. They're moneymakers for those that sell them.

signed her up for one of the warranties at 4000. they were going to charge her 400. a month. She had just given them her bank acct #. We caught it early enough but it took us 6 mos. to get the 400. back. Criminals.

16. The best place to go is http://800notes.com/
Which can give you an idea of who is calling you. Creditors, frequent calls from telemarketers, and more--other people have been called by these people, and can tell you their stories. I found out that there is one creditor which has offices around the country, and will call you from different cities!

But it's worth a look to see if they have been complained about.
