PLEASE, won't anyone in the MSM ask Repub. reps or senators why they accept GOVERNMENT health care?
While all the time telling the people out there that they "don't want" it?

Today on MJ Eric Cantor was going on about how moms won't get to choose their own pediatricians for their kids or docs for their elderly parents. I guess this was the cued up "talking point" as Mother's Day approaches.

NO ONE on the show asked Cantor if he accepts the government paid for and government run health care HE and HIS FAMILY receives! The hypocrisy is just nauseating...how can we get SOMEONE in the media to do this next time one of these clowns is on their show?

1. It's administered by insurance companies
It is not government run. Being able to buy into the selection of plans that federal employees have would be a big step forward for a lot of people, especially if subsidies were provided. It would be a lot easier to pass too.

6. I always read about how the President goes to navy docs at Bethesda for
tests, procedures, check ups and I thought Congress and the SC got same.

Your point is very good. Let's have a conversation about the choice of health plans they get while they natter on about "public" health plans.

8. That's true
I really don't know why they go there, or how that works in relation to their insurance. It's an excellent question. If memory serves, a lot of the higher ups go to Bethesda, not just the pres.

10. Hopefully, as the health care debate heats up, someone WILL bring up
the options that Congress gets. And we'll probably see some very red faces on Capitol Hill as a result...can't wait for that!

5. It's okay for them, though, since they're Republicans
They can have the best of both worlds without being hypocrites.

9. The creme de creme hypocrisy was McLame blathering about
about socialized medicine, gov't administered health care, blah, blah, blah when he's had access to it all his freakin' life - dependent of a naval officer, active duty military, retired military, senator.

11. Great Point!
I recall in one of Barack's campaign speeches he stated that; "ALL AMERICAN'S DESERVE THE SAME LEVEL OF HEALTH CARE AS THAT PROVIDED TO CONGRESS".

That statement was profound, bold, and courageous. He said it like he meant it.

Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The American Health Care System is anathema to "the pursuit of happiness" for so many Americans.

It must be a right for all American Citizens to expect reasonable health care costs!

One stat that sticks with me. In the USA the % of GNP devoted to health care is approximately 16%. In the "socialism countries" in Europe, that % is 8%.

So those of us fortunate enough to have "good" insurance are paying double fair market value, while America allows many to live with NO HEALTH CARE INSURANCE WHAT SO EVER.

BUST THE TRUSTS!

Do I have my facts straight here, fellow DU'ers?

12. Spreading the "can't choose your own doctor" myth
This seems to be one of the most widely held beliefs among conservatives opposed to universal health care -- the idea that the government will choose your doctor for you. Correct me if I'm wrong, but in every country with universal health care, you are free to see any doctor you want (because they are all "in network"). In fact, it is ONLY in the United States that your choice of doctors is limited (by your insurance company) -- precisely the opposite of what UHC opponents claim! How did this myth become so widespread? Do people like Eric Cantor actually believe it?

13. It is so obvious that it makes me wonder, too.
Chalk it up to the general public not having a very good idea of health care in other countries. My accountant was talking about how bad "socialized medicine" is in Europe and I asked him why, if that were the case, haven't ONE of those countries switch to American style health care. He basically responded that they didn't know any better. And this is an educated guy...
