Specter - RINO or DINO?
Arlen Specter: Norm Coleman Should Be Seated
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/05/05/specter-norm-coleman-shou_n_197057.html

sent by Fiore since 11 hours 17 minutes, published about 6 hours 9 minutes
Pennsylvania senator Arlen Specter has been showing his independence consistently since switching to the Democratic side of the aisle. But his latest display of unorthodox thinking is particularly eye-opening. In an interview with the New York Times Magazine, the newly minted Democrat said he thinks Republican Norm Coleman should win his Senate recount court battle against Al Franken in Minnesota

Specter Backs Away from Coleman Comments
http://politicalwire.com/archives/2009/05/05/specter_backs_away_from_coleman_comments.html

Sen. Arlen Specter (D-PA) reversed himself from comments he made in an interview in which he said he wanted Norm Coleman (R) to prevail in the disputed Minnesota Senate race against Al Franken (D), CQ Politics reports.

Said Specter: "In the swirl of moving from one caucus to another, I have to get used to my new teammates. I'm ordinarily pretty correct in what I say. I've made a career of being precise. I conclusively misspoke."

Asked who he's backing now in elections, Specter said, "I'm looking for more Democratic members. Nothing personal."

3. My reaction also -- He's a loser. You beat me to it.
Specter couldn't bring his party back to sanity. He is not strong or persuasive or courageous enough to call the Republican extremists out so that they change. He is pretending to be a Democrat in order to get elected. We shall see. I think it is going to be a long, hard road for him to the next election.

9. Well,
He voted for just about everything that Bush stampeded through the senate for 8 years...and he's still voting for the things the GOP supports. The GOP wanted every handout that the banks and Wall Street were given you can bet on that. The republicans knew those handouts would all pass, because the democrats were not about to let this country slide into another republican induced great depression, so they played politics and acted like they didn't support the bailouts.

Benedict Arlen and GI Joe LIEberman are a Repub-o-fascist sleeper cell...

13. He's loyal to nobody but himself
This shift in parties is not about any ideological change, anger at his former colleages, or infaturation with Obama's presidency. It's all about HIM, and hanging onto his seat by whatever means necessary. Next on the list he may chuck his family under the bus if it means a better change of getting reelected.
