The first lady arrived at mission after 4 p.m. to meet the staff of UN Ambassador Susan Rice.
Dozens of star-struck workers waved, called and snapped pictures with their cell phones as Obama entered the building with an entourage. "There she goes," exclaimed a woman. "I got a good look at her."
Authorities cleared the lobby of the building and asked onlookers to step back dozens of feet from the glass doors she would walk through. "She's very well liked," said another fan, Maria Rodriguez, who happened upon the scene. "But now it's back to work."

Earlier, at the mission, demonstrators who hope President Barack Obama can pay greater attention to the plight of people in the Darfur region of Sudan held up signs and passed out fliers on the street asking people to call Obama and Rice.
Welcome to NY
