"Democrats Won't Reschedule Gonzales"
WASHINGTON (AP) - For all the explanations Attorney General Alberto Gonzales has given about his role in the firing of eight U.S. prosecutors, he hasn't yet given one under oath to Congress. For the White House, it suddenly seems that day can't come fast enough.

The Bush administration scrambled Sunday to move up Gonzales' planned April 17 testimony. The idea was rejected by Democrats, who said it was too late to adjust the schedule. The Senate has just started a one-week vacation, while the House is taking a two-week spring break.

The push to more quickly get Gonzales to Capitol Hill reflects the frustration of Republican senators, the White House and even the Justice Department over how long it will take for the embattled attorney general to testify before Congress. Each passing day adds life to the story.

In a sign of Gonzales' diminished standing on Capitol Hill, the Senate GOP leader offered lukewarm support for the nation's top law enforcer, whose inconsistent explanations about the dismissals have become a distraction for the Bush administration.

1. Good. Let them twist in the wind.
Have they gotten any of the emails from the RNC servers yet? THAT is what I'm waiting for.

3. How interesting.
I'm curious as to why they would want to move up the date instead of trying to delay it indefinitely as part of their standard operating procedure. I admit I didn't read the article yet.

4. Whatever the reason is
you just know it's unethical, sneaky, underhanded and likely illegal. Congratulations to Pat Leahy for standing his ground with these sleezeball Repukes.

8. They know they CAN'T delay it now that Congress is actually doing its job again.
Whining about the schedule is just a sad shadow of their
once-mighty "let no mud remain unslung" smear machine.
They are scraping the dry bottom of their mud barrel
and slinging teaspoons of DUST, mostly just from HABIT at
this point.

It's a picayune complaint that might "mean something" in
the koolaid-addled brains of their dwindling base, but has
absolutely no relevance to anything happening in the real world.
But, from their point of view, it's still INFINITELY preferable
to actually discussing any sort of FACTS.

Nothing good can come from _ANY mention of FACTS, no matter
how trivial...if you're a member of the B*sh Administration,
that is. They KNOW it, and their increasingly-desperate statements
SHOW it. And I am loving it.
