When are we going to attack Iran
Since this will be the beginning of WWIII complete with nukes and such, I was just wondering what the over/under for the start of the war is in here.

There are "rumors" from the Russians that plans are in place for a Good Friday attack. I was quick to dismiss those rumors except for the "breaking news" of a missing American in Kish, Iran.

Are we trying to build "anti-Iran" feelings over here? Demonizing the enemy is the first step before attacking them.

Do you, and when, think that we will attack Iran? April looks like a possible time frame.

Should we start a pool?

Pencil me in for an Easter attack.

2. ‘US Ready to Strike Iran on Good Friday’
The United States will be ready to launch a missile attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities as soon as early this month, perhaps “from 4 a.m. until 4 p.m. on April 6,” according to reports in the Russian media on Saturday. According to Russian intelligence sources, the reports said, the US has devised a plan to attack several targets in Iran, and an assault could be carried out by launching missiles from fighter jets and warships stationed in the Persian Gulf.

Russian news agency RIA Novosti quoted a security official as saying, “Russian intelligence has information that the US Armed Forces stationed in the Persian Gulf have nearly completed preparations for a missile strike against Iranian territory.”

The Russian Defense Ministry rejected the claims of an imminent attack as “myths.” There was no immediate response from Washington.

The reports come as the Iranian chief of staff, Hassan Fayrouz Abadi, was quoted on Saturday by Iran’s Fars news agency warning leaders of Arab countries that Israel plans to open a “suicidal attack” on its neighbors this summer, to “prevent the withdrawal of the US troops from Iraq and the area.”

The Russians have much to lose with the absolute inevitable Bush attack on Iran, and they are the indeed on the opposite side of Bush. Where might you stand? Perhaps you bought all that republican cold war shit through the years, the rhetoric about them vs. us, the corporate military industrial complex bullshit and their control that's put us where we are today.

3. This is a very sad question.
Just the fact that there are posts like this one say it all. I wonder if the planet is going to survive the next big blunder. I have a feeling that it won't. Global annialation would be the immediate result of a nuke attack against Iran imo.

Not that you look like an ass, but that we don't attack Iran. And I think bushco has plenty to lose.

7. Here's hoping...
An attack on Iran could be truly disastrous. Iran can retaliate by shutting down the entire Persian Gulf by blowing up oil tankers with Exocet and Moskit missiles. Say hello to $8.00/gal gas and the second Great Depression.

I really hope Bush isn't that stupid.

20. Yeah, that's what I'm afraid of.
Not only is he too stupid to really understand the consequences of his actions, he's sociopathic and power-hungry enough that he would not care even if he did understand. As far as he's concerned, starting World War III would be the greatest thing - he can use all the fear from the fighting to ram martial law down our throats and make himself dictator for life.

for this one. I was firmly in the "we will bomb Iran" camp until I saw them back Bushco into a corner in only 6 weeks. Now, I do wish Obama wouldn't have opened his mouth, but with news of Dems "widening the fight" with Bushco and Reid telegraphing another anti-war bill--not to mention the fruit of all these investigations--I don't think Bushco can pull off an attack on Iran. If he does, that's it for him and the Republicans for another three decades.

That said, I wouldn't put it past Bush and Cheney to be just insane enough to do it anyway. But I'm not betting on April 6 being the day.

11. It was more than likely this Friday, but Russia blew BushCo plans...so it'll probably be
Edited on Mon Apr-02-07 02:00 PM by LaPera
postponed to another day this month...BushCo has had the carriers sitting there for month's so they will have to do it soon...though it's complete illegal, against international law, but that never stop these criminals in power...they may even do it this Friday still....Who knows? Because Iran has massive oil fields and BushCo wants to prolong this war for profit so congress will be forced to authorize hundreds of more billions of our tax dollars, for the corporations to steal (more 500 billion so far, where do you think that money goes....only a fraction goes to the troops....so who is getting the rest, the same republican corporations that support BushCo and all wars for profit). And by expanding the war it changes the MSM news story each day and it'll take the heat off Bush's scandals back home. In the end the bottom line is it's all about the money - stealing resources, stealing land, controlling the region, Power, it ALL still translates to being ALL about the money. Certainly NOT the lies of terrorist the republican owned corporate media keeps feeding us via BushCo to keep it all going, forever if possible!
