Michael Savage banned from UK for preaching hate
Edited on Tue May-05-09 07:44 AM by Triana

Michael Savage, the radical wingnut shock-jock - and founder of Rockstar Energy Drink (his son is still CEO) - has another dubious distinction to add to his resume: he's been banned from entering the United Kingdom, because of his disgusting track record of hateful comments when it comes to issues like homosexuality (gays should get HIV and die), Islam (Muslims should be hung from lamp posts with their guts hanging out) and autism (just kids who are spoiled brats who need to be told to knock it off).

Joining Savage on this list? A former Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan, two members of a Russian skinhead gang, Rev. Fred Phelps, and the leader of an American neo-Nazi group, among others.

...

The UK's Home Secretary, Jacqui Smith, told the London Times that naming these people enabled others to see the type of hateful and dangerous behavior that won't be tolerated in the country.

"Coming to this country is a privilege. We won't allow people into this country who are going to propagate the sort of views... that fundamentally go against our values," Smith said.

1. I listen to him when I drive back from Grand Rapids
just out of curiosity..he is rabid isnt he? and mark my words, he will use this to his advantage..he thinks he is persecuted. he will go on and on about how persecuted he is. how the 'vermin' in the UK are persecuting him, a great man, the last speaker in the USA who is telling the truth..
he will spend days and days on this and never once look in the mirror at himself.
makes me wonder why he is so angry, what happened to someone in their own personal life to make them so angry and hateful?

7. I'm not sure I would be, free speech is our most important
right. Apparently in the UK.....not so much, but then you still have the world's richest welfare family.

23. Maybe they do but that doesn't make it right and I NEVER
said I was proud of the actions of our govt.....much the opposite in fact.

The poster was PROUD that his country was denying someone the right to free speech. I have no doubt that much of what MS spews is hate speech but it's just speech, the royals on the other hand are causing real damage by taking the bread from the mouths of their "subjects". Just allowing oneself to be called a "subject" is abhorrent.

31. Uh, no they aren't
The Royal Family gets about two million a year from the civil list but for years now, they've turned around and given it straight back again. They're rich because they own half of Yorkshire, most of Lancashire and quite a lot of Norfolk. Yes, the country pays for the upkeep on the palaces but they're historic so we'd be paying for that anyway. Finally, you might want to consider that being a "subject" is only abhorrent if you've decided it is. Not everyone is or wants to be American.

16. Canada would not accept him either.
Canada would not tolerate the horrendous lies and hate speech that is permitted to infest US via FOX. We get FOX in Canada, true, but I cannot believe we would ever put up with such horrific garbage here on our own networks. Not to mention the dodos on CNN who are beautiful but so woefully stupid and uniformed. Shouldn't they have to have some elementary knowledge before they pontificate? (Sheesh!)

17. Maybe this wont be a popular opinion but I don't like this
Hating people is not a crime (well, I guess it is in the UK). Seems like a violation of free speech to me. Plus, I want idiots like Savage out there being hateful and crude. The more often, the better. It makes it easier for right/moderates to have a little self-reflection and maybe say "you know, I don't want to be on the same team as this guy." Between Saveage driving people away and people like Megan McCain calling them out on it, it does nothing but help the left. The people who are attracted to Savage's message are unlikely to ever change what they are and who they vote for.

Are they banned in the UK, too?

I SO wish they were banned here...
but I do believe in free speech.

I just wish people would stop
listening and watching the hatemedia.

Fox is on some cable packages but often edited due to our laws about truth in journalism.

33. Fox Edited in UK?
I'm not sure about that. They have cheap-ass powerpoint UK news headline pages during some of the ad-breaks, but the actual editorial content (and I use that description with unease..) is pretty much as broadcast, I think.
