Judge rules Wilson schools can't ban God from posters

Wilson County schools cannot ban the phrases "In God We Trust" and "God Bless America" or other religious speech from student posters, a federal judge in Nashville ruled Friday.

Five couples who have children at Lakeview Elementary School in Mt. Juliet sued the school district earlier this year over posters for "Meet Me at the Pole," a student-led prayer event, last fall. School officials censored the posters for the event, insisting that "In God We Trust" and other religious terms be covered over.

In response, the parents sued the district. They argued that school officials violated their children's freedom of religion.

U.S. District Court Judge Robert Echols ruled in their favor. He issued a preliminary injunction, barring the school district from censoring religious speech on posters. Any future policy must be "reasonable, viewpoint-neutral, and in accordance with federal law," he ruled.

Nate Kellum, senior counsel for the Alliance Defense Fund, which represented the parents, said the ruling will allow his clients to put up posters for Thursday's National Day of Prayer, without incident.

2. Yeah, fair is fair with this one.
At my high school, the activities director gave Christian clubs their section to advertise. Any club meetings occurred during early mornings, lunch time, or after school, so as not to interfere with classes.

3. I hope every single non-Xian kid puts up posters about their religion and is allowed
There should be "There is no God but Allah and Muhammed is his prophet!" right next to "May he touch you with his noodly appendage. RAmen." and of course "Praise Satan!" Every time Xians impose their beliefs in the name of being allowed freedom to express them EVERY possible religious position should be expressed with equal or if possible greater visibility all over the same space and see how many microseconds it takes the poor abused Xians to decide freedom of religious expression isn't really what they wanted after all.

8. Them too of course yes! And Sikhs and Hindus and Scientologists too!
If it's freedom of religious expression these guys want, we should ALL damn well give it to them as much as humanly possible.
