Where I live, the Sunday paper is already $5.50 and the weekday ed is 1.75.

8. To be fair, monthly magazines are much smaller.
Of course, they also are printed on higher-quality paper and have fewer ads.

4. And so fewer people will buy it, and so they will have to increase prices, etc.
Sad to see the Grey Lady in a death spiral.

5. We sell it for 1.50 and 5.00
It sells very well at those prices. I expect it'll continue to sell at 2 @ 6.

7. NYT will be dead within 2 years.
Massive amount of debt and insufficient cash flow to pay for it when it comes due.

Creditors know newspapers are a dying business so they won't accept rolling over the debt nor will they want stock.

As debt due grows NYT will be forced into BK.
Unless there is a buyer I expect liquidation.

14. Oddly enough, Id think they would shift towards a free(ish) model
Like the internet. The money is in the advertising. Increase circulation, you increase advertising and revenue. I know advertisers are in tough positions, but decreasing their base isn't going to make them more attractive.
