In the beginning..... There was nothing but the world
And the day time and the night time And Man looked up and said, "Hey! There's a light" In the daylight and the moonlight And he thought "This is mine."
And the second day came As the first, much the same Man found new wonders And gave them all names
And the noontime and in the meantime And he survived as he could
And the third day came As the second, not quite the same Man needed to know the answers To things he could not explain
And the dream time and the work time And thought that he should
And Man created God To rule the things he cannot The fire from the sky, the wind and rain And the reasons why all of us die
And the old times and the new times And Man thought it was good
And the fourth day came And Man and Gods were one and the same Connected to each other and the world No thought of hatred, want or shame
And the good times and the hard times And Man knew the ways of earth and wood
And the fifth day came And Man got ideas in his brain That the Gods should be written So they could be made all the same
And the ages of light and the ages of dark And Man ruled all thought as he thought he should
And the sixth day came And the rules had changed The Gods had been separated from us Imprisoned in words on a page
And the Shadow and the night And Man became God as he always would
And the seventh day came Playing a familiar refrain
Man creating Gods to rule in their name Showing little divinity in their invented games Making the rules to justify the ends Causing little “Salvation” and far too much pain -S
