1. First line of questioning:
Mrs. Edwards, why did you and your husband think it would be a good idea to continue with the campaign after you found out about his extramarital affair, considering the fact that if he had won, and if the affair came to light in the general election, he would have lost?

Can you explain to people watching, especially those who voted for him in the primary, why the two of you were willing to risk not only the future of the party, but the future of the country, since it would have been right back in the hands of Republicans?

3. I'd put a little more of that blame on John, little less on Elizabeth

5. For the affair, of course, but the decision to continue the campaign was
both of theirs.

If the question is asked, she'll have a chance to explain herself. When John goes on TV again at some point, the same question should be asked of him.

11. I agree - she was complicit in running a scam on voters...
imo she should have refused to participate, and let him do what he saw fit.

4. EE didn't want him to run, she tried to talk him out of it
She can't change his mind, can she? What should she have done? Also, she only knew what he told her, that he slipped up once, not that it wa an ongoing affair.

I think EE feels bad enough already for something that is not really her fault. Lets reserve judgement for those who deserve it.

I was an Edwards fan in the begining because he had the post populist platform. I didn't like him as much as his policies. I was never sure though if he would actually bring those policies to the table if he was elected. I remeber feeling uncomfortable at the same time that I supported him.Guess I know why now.

7. That suggests that her vigorous campaigning for him was disingenuous.
I don't believe that.

10. I agree that in hindsight her campaiging for him may not have been the
best choice. What should she have done? Divorced him?

I don't like what JE did, but I don't blame EE for doing what she did. Also, her campaiging was good for bringing healthcare issues into the discussion.

12. imo she didn't have to divorce him - just refuse to participate in such a scam...
...and let him continue if he wanted to.

21. At the very least, she should not have campaigned with him.
If reporters wanted to know why, she could refer those questions to her husband.

She went along with it, 100%.

16. In March 2007 - she could have stopped the campaign in an instant
Just by looking wistful or unhappy when asked about continuing the run and saying that she didn't really feel up to it and spending time with her kids and loving husband might be what she needed. JRE would then have had to graciously bow out with people impressed by what a good person he was. It might even have let him resurface in 2016. (A 10 year old affair would have little impact - even if people learned of it.)

2. I wonder if she should have waited a while longer
Reviving this mistress story with a grand jury investigation going on seems a bit off to me.

8. Well, JE did what was in his best interest, and now she'd doing what is in
her best interest. Writing the book probably was good for her. Also, t's not like she has a lot of time to waste. I hope she lives a long time, but she needs to live each day to the fullest.

9. It's sort of daring Rielle Hunter to come out with her own version of the story
This could really blow things up. We'll see. I hope EE lives a long life, too. I'm just not feeling the timing is at all good, but then, as you say, she may not have the time.

17. Hillary II
Elizabeth Edwards is following the lead of Hillary Clinton and trying to portray the other woman as a vamp who seduced her poor guileless husband.

Cheating husband as victim? You can buy into it or see it for what it is.

14. I really cannot imagine why she would want to do that.
But I guess it is publicity for the book.

Still, must be difficult.

But I can't imagine wanting to appear on Oprah after all she has been through.

18. The opening act of the "my husband is completely innocent" tour?
Word is out that the feds are investigating Edwards--and his wife goes on Oprah. Doesn't sound like a coincidence to me.

But she does have a book to sell too.
