The Club for Dopes
Edited on Sun May-03-09 11:07 AM by DainBramaged
If there was one group on the Right that is more entrenched in Prehistoric times, it is the Club for Growth. Jesus, they could at least have updated their website to make themselves look modern. And they even think free trade is making a comeback. Now, the sniping and name calling of Arlin Specter begins. And their blog roll is smaller than my butt roll. They are a "National Network of thousands of Americans". Oh yeah, I guarantee more people are on DU in one minute than are on the CFG website in an hour. And Ultra-Conservative Pat Toomey, who was the head of the CFG is going to be Specter's opponent. I'd say Specter wins going away. It was founded in 1999 by Stephen Moore, and claims over 40,000 members. The current president is the fiscally conservative former Indiana Congressman (defeated in 2006), Chris Chocola.

On September 19, 2005, the Federal Election Commission filed suit against the Club for Growth for violations of the Federal Election Campaign Act for failing to register as a political action committee in the 2000, 2002, and 2004 congressional elections.<1> In September, 2007 the Club for Growth agreed to pay $350,000 in civil penalties. The agreement, if approved by a federal judge, would mark the end of the lawsuit.
