Severin suspended for comments about Mexican immigrants

Jay Severin, the fiery right wing talk show host on Boston's WTKK-FM radio station, was suspended yesterday after calling Mexican immigrants "criminaliens," "primitives," "leeches," and exporters of "women with mustaches and VD," among other incendiary comments. ....

He has called former Vice President Al Gore "Al Whore," Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton "a lying (expletive)," and Senator Edward M. Kennedy "a fat piece of lying garbage."

Severin has also been criticized over the years for falsely saying that he had won a Pulitzer Prize and that he had earned a master's degree from Boston University. ....

Severin's lawyer said he expects that ultimately, his client will be back on the airways.

"I think we're going to sit down with them (station officials) soon and just go forward and put it past us," Tobia said. "I'm confident he'll be back on the air soon, but I don't know when or what the particulars are."

1. Oh, I'm sure he'll bitch about his "right to free speech"

I think a lot of people get that wrong. The first ammendment just says "congress shall pass not laws". It doesn't stop your employer or anyone else from infringing on those rights. The Supreme Court and even congress can still take measures to limit it.

Even so, Servin is not so concillitory to the left having free speech. He believes that should be forced off the airwaves and not allowed a word.

Guy just fell on his own sword.

3. I normally don't listen to him

A year ago I had a guy at work that just had to listen to Severin everyday. If he didn't get his fix he went into a serious rage. We'd even ask him what the deal was and he's exclaim that we were all dumb and didn't know what educational programming was.

Really funny that he wouldn't by that severin's claims don't stand up once you fact check them.

4. Like all "radioactivity", it has a half-life

Meaning that his toxicity to advertisers and producers will wear off enough so that they can handle him again.

They COUNT on the public's collective amnesia. Look how quickly Imus was back on the air. It was the length of a an average sabbatical. And he was welcomed back easily, if you look at his ratings.

He'll be back.

5. He's not really toxic to them

What he spewing is doing their dirty work. They want this level of racism and bigotry in the American psyche. Capitalism requires an underclass in order to survive. It creates more people they can exploit and when these same people talk of their conditions they are ignored and brushed aside.

The advertisers LOVE what Jay Severin is doing.

He described Mexicans as "the world's lowest of primitives."
"It's millions of leeches from a primitive country come here to leech off you and, with it,

He also said that emergency rooms had "become essentially condos for Mexicans."
And on a 2004 broadcast, he compared Muslims to a fifth column in this country and said in response to a caller who thought people should reach out to Muslims: "You think we should befriend them; I think we should kill them."
