11. What about executive orders?
Don't those sort of act like legislation in many ways?

21. Executive orders have a scope limited to the Executive Branch. They do NOT change law.
Edited on Thu Apr-30-09 04:52 PM by TahitiNut
A President cannot change statutory law (tax rates, federal minimum wage, etc.) by an executive order. Congress has final budgetary authority and penultimate legislative authority. Furthermore, there is no statutory authority for the "nationalization" of an industry, even in time of war.

8. Other: Carve up the Patriot Act.
It's not ALL bad-- just about 80% of it, and that 80% needs to be deep-sixed...

9. Not sure exactly what I'd do
cause I don't know enough about how to do it but I would find a way to bring more diverse voices to the mass media and diffuse faux news (i.e., reintroduce the fairness doctrine, ban multiple media ownership/licenses per market - I'm sure there are other strategies).

12. Open the books on BCCI and let the PEOPLE put Bush Family and their enablers in jail at long last.
Edited on Thu Apr-30-09 04:15 PM by blm
BCCI's criminal operations and the coverups in the 90s led DIRECTLY to Bush2, 9-11 and this Iraq war.

13. I would clean up the nasty, filthy, greedy health care system,
MRSA is breeding grounds in hospitals and emergency rooms. http://www.wisecountyissues.com/?p=62 I'd rather take a chance on riding out the flu than to be infected and keep spreading 'a used to be' hospital acquired disease. Children and the elderly don't need to get sicker because they trusted and depended on American Health Care. In Tennessee and Virginia, Profit care comes ahead of Patient Care !

17. Campaign finance reform.
Money does not equal free speech. Until we get big money out of our electoral process, we'll continue to have a government that represents big money, not We the People.

And encourage prosecutions if the evidence is there so support them.
