Obama, Swine flu, and the borders....
First off: I apologize if I put this in the wrong spot - I couldn't think of (or find) a category where it should go.

Secondly...

I have to applaud Obama's stance over the Swine flu problem, but I have to say that I am a little perplexed and disappointed over one thing that is a major mistake; the borders.

Personally, I think we should close the Mexico/USA borders (save shipping/freight), order a travel ban on flights to and from Mexico, and issue a warning (ban?) to any freight coming in or out by sea.

It is a little drastic, and maybe an over reaction, but with it so close to home - I really would not want to take chances.

Thoughts?

1. DOES NOT WORK to close the borders
not after the virus is IN - COUNTRY and spreading

If, big if, the Airport and buss stations were closed in Mexico City VERY EARLY ON, that MIGHT have helped

2. Should've we refused the return of US citizens traveling abroad as well?
Or do we just close the border to brown people? Viruses have no interest in ethnicity. Why should shipping and freight be permitted? Surfaces and products can also contain viruses and the workers ferrying them can also carry viruses.

Should we quarantine Queens? Should persons there be permitted into Manhattan or Brooklyn or NJ?

What about Texas? As a Texan, should we restrict travel within Texas? Should Texans be restricted to Texas? Should our airports be shutdown? What about in Austin where we have zero cases of the swine flu--no cases suspected, no cases confirmed?

3. Is it possible
that Obama found out that the weirdly concocted flu was purposely put out as a false flag operation? I keep thinking of the look on his face when he said that there was no need to panic, etc. He looked pissed as hell, which is unusual for him. He looked like he found out some horrible nasty secret of the underground shadow government, something unfathomable. He looked like he was thinking, " I just found out about some nazi-fied bullshit, but don't worry- I handled it!" I know-I know- tinfoil hats!

5. Why, in your fantasy, do you think Obama is some sort of protagonist working
to end shadow government atrocities? I find that interesting.

12. ,,,,
Granted, unfortunately.

I just would want to close the borders - back before it spread - so that there was a decreased chance of it spreading. Yeah, it wouldn't necessarily stop it cold *badaching*, but it would help.

11. Should people in Queens not be allowed to travel to work in Manhattan?
Authorities in NYC believe that "hundreds" of school children have it in Queens. Should Queens be quarantined? Subways shut down going in and out?

10. It is way too late for that
it was too late when cases showed up in California and Canada. It would purely be a political move if done now. Cat's out of the bag.
