Has SWINE FLU replaced TORTURE on the news?
Edited on Mon Apr-27-09 05:45 PM by NightWatcher
I dont hear anything about the torture issue anymore. All I see is FLU FLU FLU FLU.

Is this a distraction?

on edit:

We were getting good traction on the ideas of investigations and possibly a truth commission. The daily drumbeat of the word TORTURE was starting to wear some in Congress down. All of that momentum is gone now.

2. Aint the 24 hour news format grand
24 hours of one story. CNN doesn't do multi-tasking.

3. Well,of course. The LiberalMedia is hyping the Swine Flu
in order to force Republicans to stop blocking our Health Secretary.

We went down and paid a bunch of Mexicans to die, just so we could do that.

But wqait, Torture is a Dem issue too!

We are crashing into our own manipulative media operations!

Dems so busy inventing the news!!

Republicans have to just get out of the way of our ultimate control of the news cycle!

:sarcasm:

REPUBLICANS OWN THE CHANNELS AND NEWSCORPS,IDJITS--and they still don't hire any dems if they can help it. They're just scareder of Mexicans than they are Terrorists.

4. I don't think there is an agenda behind this...
The media follows the news of the day. And the news right now is the Swine flu. I personally think this is a legitimate story and fear after having some discussions with biology professors.

I want people to know about torture. But I also want people to know if they are at risk from a pandemic. It's just unfortunate that the media can't run both stories. I guess there can only be one headline...

6. Yes. It's a plot by the WHO which is really a front for bush family.
not only that, but your use of the word inertia is in error and there's no evidence that members of Congress were wearing down on the issue.

8. I changed "inertia" to "momentum" for ya
I never said it was a Bush plot, but I suggest that the media would rather cover something that can be whipped up into a frenzy.

10. Funny, this morning CNBC covered the movement to remove, aka impeach
Judge bybee

I mentioned it here (after calling folks) and it sank like a rock

So no, it hasn't

DU has a one track mind

Should it be on the top of the news? Yes, it is a legit story

And it has all to do with the NEWS CYCLE

Stories comes and go

12. Watch WHICH stories come, which go, and when.
My father is an old style newsman. I love the news, and really beliee it to be the forth branch of government.

And I no longer trust the news. Swine flu is a problem, yes. But few have contracted it in the USA, none have died. But torture is SHATTERING our international reputation, and putting every American over seas at risk, including those on our military.

Two airplanes flew past the Statue of Liberty and startled some New Yorkers. News? Yah, kinda. But Cheney, the ex-VP of the USA, is DEFENDING the use of torture, thus emboldening terrorists and reinforcing all the evil things said of our nation, and driving more future terrorists into the waiting arms of AQ.

We still have boots on the ground in two separate wars. A second one which wasn't necessary, and the first which might be finished by now, had we not distracted ourselves with the second. But Susan Boyle might not win a talent contest.

Get an attention span, America. Things have been dropping through the cracks for too long.
