Something bad WILL happen again. So then Americans will rush willy-nilly to re-instate and legalize torture.

Something bad WILL happen yet again. Will that that be due to the fact we didn't torture ENOUGH?

There is no end to the downward spiral of this logic.

I think it makes a valid point that it's impossible to believe that our country's national security can hang on the question of "Do we torture ENOUGH?"

I still cannot believe that in this day and age I can watch people on TV tell me how come torture is good for me and good for my country. I will NEVER get over this. It shows how close the abyss is at any given moment.
