Stop! Maybe they are both right!
Edited on Sun Apr-01-07 12:50 PM by Warren Stupidity
An Unpleasant Thought for a Sunday Afternoon, Very Early April.

So this week we had His Petulance declaring that the easter-adjourning Congress was derelict in its duties as funds were going to run out and our soldiers in Iraq fighting the Glorious and Perpetual War Over There So We Do Not Have to Fight Them Here would be stranded on empty mid draw-fire parade in their humvees without air cover for lack of fuel and no bullets either, unable to even get back to the fortified air conditioned halliburton operated FOBs, let alone get back home. May 15 snarled His Petulance and his Greek Chorus of minions. Out of gas like the Afrika Corps. Doomed.

And then there was the Congressional Research Service (which despite rightard rumors to the contrary has not been eliminated by a corrupt earmarking tax you till you drop out of control Democratic Congress) which noted that funds would actually suffice until around mid July.

That is quite a discrepancy. 45 days vs 105 days. Urgent crisis needing immediate attention (and we will ignore the fact that l'il boots could just sign the bill) vs lots of time to work something out. So I wondered, what is up with that?

Now of course it could just be political posturing. That remains the only thing The Worst President Ever's administration is good at. Hot air, racking up points with the 28 per-centers who are still buying their bullshit. Whatever.

Or there could be another explanation. Burn rate. Suppose that for unknown reasons the rate at which our little expeditionary force in the region consumes our tax dollars is about to dramatically increase? Suppose for example, oh I don't know, we had plans on the table to start a big old fashioned air war against one of Iraq's neighbors, like say Iran. That would start eating into whatever is left in the kitty at a new and alarming rate.

So in fact both the CRS estimates of July and Dumbass's assertion of May could be right. It just depends on what the exact definition of 'the war' is.
