Question: Say we attack Iran, then what?
Some say we have the military ability to do this...with Air and US Navy forces. So we bomb the hell out of them, blockade their ports, bring them to their knees...then what? Really, what do we do next? Occupy the country? Sit down and have a nice chat with them? Give the country to Israel? If the plan is the replace the government, wouldn't we have to be on the ground to do that and where do the ground forces come from?

2. Then the U.S. troop fatalities in Iraq raise dramatically.
Iran attacks U.S troops along the Iraq/Iran border. It's a huge problem for bushco, and they know it.

3. We don't "bring them to their knees" (regime change?)..
without an invasion. Air Force is for softening up defenses and for spanking. The Army will be necessary to "win" (assuming we figure out what "win" means).

Block ports? That will cut trade. The average Iranian will suffer deprivation. The leaders will be just fine, thank you. Their caviar will still be shipped in from Russia.

We can't unilaterally block all shipment. We don't and can't control all their borders. We'd need some help from countries that don't necessarily like us very much.

Basically, Iran is not the United States' responsibility. Leave it alone.

5. They don't know "then what"
Our strategists stink at "then what." See: Iraq.
