Reid discourages call for independent "truth commission" re: torture. "Relax!"
WASHINGTON -- Sen. Harry Reid today moved to discourage calls for an independent "truth commission" to delve into harsh interrogation tactics the Bush administration approved to be conducted on terror suspects, saying the Senate should finish its own investigation first...

"I think it would be very unwise from my perspective to start having commissions, boards, tribunals, until we find out what the facts are," Reid said in a meeting with reporters. "I don't know a better way of getting the facts than through the intelligence committee."

"Until we get that information we would all be better off just relaxing, understanding how difficult this is," Reid said.

4. Wow- Reid wants to "Keep his powder dry"- what a huge suprise. I think he is lying.

The whole point of "having commissions, boards, tribunals" is to "find out what the facts are."

Since when is the Joe Lieberman/Harry Reid/Evan Bayh kissy-face pals-with-Republicans club in the Senate better at nailing said Republicans?

Seems like Reid already knows "what the facts are", and is covering something up.

All I know is that whenever Reid tells you to "keep your powder dry"- it means that he is going to let the Republicans get away with something.

6. No doubt a "Truth Commission" would be about as effective
as a 9/11 Commission, and we all know how well that worked out.

7. No doubt a "Truth Commission" would be about as effective as anything Reid does either.

I can see Reid "standing up" and talking down to the DEM base, but I can't see him actually going after Bush.

I'm pretty sure everyone is going to try to let this slide, as usual.

I just wish they could have a commission to find out how one stands upright without a spine.

10. Harry is poor liar, isn't he? He must be taking lessons from conservatives.
Or orders.
