I predict the candidate who seems the most honest / competent will win the presidency
After each presidential fuck up the Country tries to pick someone who has what the fuck up didn't have. Since Bush is about the most dishonest, incompetent president we have ever had I predict the country will pick someone who comes across as honest an seems to have a brain.

So, who fills those shoes?

Obama or Edwards maybe? I don't see anyone on the Republican side who fits the mold.

1. Agree -- that just about rules out any Republican.
I think we have a deep bench with strong demographic roots.

And I think the money is going to be there. More than at any time in the past.

The voters will show up and offer support for just the traits you listed.

And a Democrat will sit in the Oval Office instead of that vacuous little monkey who's in there now.

2. for such a simple comment
you speak incredible truth. I believe the "average joe and jane" Americans are so distrusting of the establishment, that it will help candidates like Edwards, and to some extent, newbie Obama. I think that hurts Clinton, even though most Americans remember the 90's were better than B&sh's years. I really like Edwards, if Clark or Gore aren't running, but will vote for any democratic candidate over their choices they're presenting, with Giuliani being their best, but he's far from honest.

3. I Do Believe That You're Correct
Our great national Jimmy-Carter-hot-shower-with-antiseptic-soap moment draws near.

5. Anyone who seems evasive, or who gives non-answers to questions,
or appears to be trying to play it both ways will be an instant flop with the public. I think people have become very sensitized to that kind of thing.

6. The candidate with the most humility will win
I hope.

I'm sick and tired of staged bravado put on by craven rethugs.

9. For some reason Obama just comes across as a really humble
honest person and that is why I think the general public will be warm to him this time around. Edwards too but Obama just a little bit more.
