Am I the only one creeped out at the pet-food ads?
I think if I had bought commercial time for my petfoods, i would either pull them or insist that at the beginning of the ad it said "THIS FOOD IS NOT PART OF ANY PETFOOD RECALL"

Every ad I see lately makes me cringe..

1. I noticed that in last Sunday's paper
the coupon section was nearly all pet food coupons. A buck off this and that, buy one get one free, etc. I think that the pet food industry is going to/getting hit hard. (As they should)

5. THANK YOU. That's the biggest take-home message from all this.
We need to demand ingredients from countries that don't have such a deplorable track record of POISONING THEIR OWN PEOPLE and now OUR pets.

4. And one wonders why there's so little attention....
Edited on Sat Mar-31-07 11:19 PM by KoKo01
could it be...that tainted wheat gluten is out there in other foods? They still won't release the name of the supplier. They still keep adding pet food to the recall. They still talk little about it in the media. And, I wonder why more people out there aren't in an uproar about it. Could it be that the small amount of coverage means that many people still don't know?

Where are the stories about shelters who depend on donations now having to scramble. What about the elderly who might be confused and not able to throw out food or afford to buy a "safe" brand since all the store brands (cheaper) were taken off the shelves. Haven't seen any personal interest stories or vet interviews about the problem.

It's very odd given that the Pet Industry is huge in America. High end pet products for your dog.

Yet, it's quiet. Without DU, I might not have even known the extent of it.

6. Add that most of the reported deaths have been cats
yet most of the food that has been recalled is for dogs. That just strikes me as very bizarre. I heard a report today that 80 deaths have been confirmed - 79 cats and 1 dog and most of those that have been confirmed were part of the "in-house testing" ... meaning the test animals. Now, we all know the number is much higher than that ... but if so few cat products are involved, why are there more cats affected and not that many cat foods recalled? I did hear in that report that cats appear to be more sensitive to the offending ingredient, at least the latest reported one, but dogs would be just as affected by rat poison, wouldn't they?

Too many conflicting stories to know what the truth is and it makes you wonder if they really know or if they are just guessing too.
