Cheney: Lead voice for the most indefensible argument for torture: It worked.
What the fuck? The argument that torture is A-OK because it works and keeps us safe, is jaw droppingly morally bankrupt. And the asshole talking heads on CNN discussing this as if it had any merit, are jaw droppingly off the mark, stupid.

Even if it were true that torture is effective, that doesn't make it any more legitimate under U.S. or international law. It's a patently repulsive argument to make. And no one on the talking heads shows seems to have a clue. At least I haven't seen anyone point this out.

It's just disgusting.

2. It worked so well, they had to do it to the same guy 183 times.
Edited on Mon Apr-20-09 05:47 PM by Xipe Totec
183 times they water boarded the same guy.

Did the answer change on the 183rd time?

Would it change again if they did it 184 times?

Did it keep changing every time?

How can you tell which of the 183 times he told the truth and which he lied?

This is insane.

3. Yep, it worked.
In fact, it all worked. They're going to get away with everything. Every fucking thing.

And yes, it is disgusting. Disgusting, and disappointing beyond my ability to express.

4. Agreed, sickening
these bastards have managed to "mainstream" torture. We will be defined for years to come by how we handle this.

5. Technically, the most indefensible argument for torture would be that it doesn't work
I mean, if it doesn't work, then one cannot ever defend any argument in favor of torture. Ever. So it would be the most indefensible.

But your point is well taken.

6. yeah, you have a point, but for me the most
indefensible thing about torture is that it's morally wrong.

7. ?
Quite disgusting. Those who authorized the use of torture must be brought to justice. The US must show that they will not tolerate this in their own country.

8. Stark Raving Mad
Only an evil entity like Cheney could offer such a perverted justification for the immoral and illegal.

As a practical matter, divulging specific information gathered seems far more sensitive than the torture memos themselves.

9. So how many "plots" did torture uncover?

10. Blackmail works too, Cheney. But that's illegal as well.
Even so, I don't believe him, and I want to see those memos, if they even exist.

12. Murder works if you want to get rid of someone. Rape works if you can't find a voluntary
sexual partner and confuse sex with violence. Burglary works if you can't afford your own bicycle. They all "work", but society has rejected all of them as legitimate means to their ends. As has civilized society with the question of torture.

This argument just proves the moral bankruptcy of anyone who advances it.

13. There's only one right thing to do: Allow an investigation.
If Mr. Obama doesn't, then in my mind he makes himself an accomplice to the crime; covering up a crime is itself a crime. I called him Mr. Obama for a reason.
