The old timers are having a conniption on Morning Joe
Edited on Mon Apr-20-09 06:26 AM by Atman
The Republicans are so crazy out of touch it is comical. Evoking Nixon and Kruschev and harumphing about how Obama should have told Ortega and Chavez to go fuck themselves, like any real leader would have done. No one but Old Man Buchanan is agreeing with Joe, and he is clearly upset that he can't whip up outrage over the comments of a tin pot dictator which hold virtually no weight in the real world. He's trying to conflate Ortega's comments into something on par with Kruschev's, yet not one member of his panel is having any of it...and Joe is about to cry. Great stuff!

3. Buchanan actually said he thought "the handshake" would provoke China
As a result of Obama's weakness, China will likely feel they can push us around. Seriously.

2. Typical Republicon Homelander chickenhawk propagandistas
Ptoooey. I give no cred whatsoever to the bleatings of overpaid republicon chickenhawk propagandists. Their inherent hypocrisy stinks to high heaven.

4. Bush shook Chavez' hand
What the big deal. These adults are unbelievably petty and they wonder why children turn on one another.

6. Yes, they were horrified he listened to Ortega brutilize the American people
and not saying anything when he got up. They named every other president who would never do that, even Carter which shows how desperate they are to make Obama look weak.
Well it would be only very old Americans being brutalized since when Joe read the horrible part it was about what we did between 1912 and 1932.
And of course that horrible smile and handshake with Chavez. Now all our enemies know we are weak.
What does it matter since they already made clear the released torture memos endanger us all and has ruined our intelligence and helped the enemy.
We're all gonna die
which makes the deficit less of a problem I guess.

I see their point. Now that our enemies know the "legal" basis for all the things they already knew were being done they'll be debating the finer points of law the whole time they are being tortured.

And Obama smiling and shaking hands leaves us all vulnerable. Probably aliens will invade now too.
Oh!bama what have you done. You must put pat and joe on your advisory team because they are just so super smart

Then I dried my hands and found my remote and didn't hear anymore

7. They just don't get that what others say is a reflection on them, not on Obama...
They're so used to being blowhards and bullies, they don't recognize actual strength.

The president said he would listen and he did.

And the truth is, under Bush, the U.S. was a brutal country.
