Perino: "The president was surprised to learn that Congress went on vacation today."
Edited on Sat Mar-31-07 12:55 PM by CorpGovActivist
From yesterday's press briefing: http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2007/03/20070330-5.html

Is she for real?

Bush's vacation days: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=bush+days+vacation

To help prevent Dana or the President from being "surprised" any more this year, here are the publicly-posted 2007 calendars for both Houses:

http://www.senate.gov/pagelayout/legislative/two_column_table/2007_Schedule.htm

http://www.house.gov/house/House_Calendar.shtml

The new Democratic majorities plan more working days than the last Do Nothing Congress:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=congress+fewest+working+days

Maybe they should consider a working off-site session in Crawford, or Camp David, to come up with a better PR strategy?!?

1. The guy is either super stupid or thinks we are idiots to buy into such an inane statement.

3. I Have No Trouble Believing He WAS Surprised...
... I'm just astounded that she would admit to his stupidity so candidly in her opening remarks yesterday.

2. surprised again????
Doesn't congress always recess or break for such holidays like EASTER? is bush declaring WAR ON EASTER? Why does he hate our bunnies?

and this is from a guy who was more concerned with his golf swing immeditely after 9-11, and thinks the best thing about being president is catching a fish.

6. Who Could Have Predicted a 7th Straight Year of Easter/Passover Recess?
He was probably playing the odds, and figured it couldn't possibly occur for a 7th straight year.

9. We viewed those documents from the Middle East discussing such causes as purely "historical".

5. well maybe if he didn't lie
about when the money was going to run out-and NOT gotten caught congress would have have stayed up there to finish the process.Of course, republicans would have accused the dems as having no family values for making them work instead of going home-ya know like they always did under Hastert

10. After the last "fiasco"

After the last "fiasco" Bush has decided to get all his news from the Weather Channel. I guess it just wasn't covered there.

11. So What You're Saying...
... is that he has no viable claim to be "surprised" when hurricane season rolls around again this year?
