Anyway, worth checking out. Her voice was even better 10 years ago. And this has been her week, and perhaps many of ours, who have waited for a story like this. This song is better than what she may yet do, at her age. But then again, who knows?

1. You know,
I am not going to watch it. Thanks for the heads up, but I am so afraid for her, so afraid of her fragility and how she might be exploited, I'm afraid to watch.

Do you know what I mean?

36. Susan, "I won't be lonely anymore"
Edited on Fri Apr-17-09 09:03 PM by Turborama
Also, Piers Morgan just apologized to her and asked her out on a date. I think he must have been getting a lot of flack in the UK, hopefully this has taught him something about humility...

She's handling it all very well, she's so humble and it doesn't seem to have made her go all egotistical at all, still the sweet soul we all love...

just from what I saw on the youtube with the money shots of the judges' and audience's reactions before and after!

I also see her getting a makeover a la Anne Hathaway in The Princess Diaries.:*

14. I don't see her as particularly fragile
She's lived her life in service to others and you see a hell of a lot more doing that than you do working in an office.

I just hope nobody tries to glam her up. I think she looks exactly the way she's supposed to look.

15. She's lived her life as little more than a recluse -
an office would be an alien place for Susan Boyle. She's never held a job and still sleeps in the room she occupied as a child. All she's been is a caregiver for her parents. Your term 'service to others' is disingenuous and misleading. She rarely leaves her house.

She's fragile, and if you don't think so, you've clearly not read about her life. She's a dear soul who is tough in her own small way, but turning the world's spotlight on her is a daunting and frightening thing, and I fear for her. Anyone would...............

surrounded by people she knows. The pub owner also said she sits by herself with her half-pint of lemonade and doesn't talk with anyone.

Oh, please? Maybe some people are more thoughtful than others. You clearly don't have to bear that burden.............

Not "I dreamed a dream" or "Cry me a River."

Wish I knew the name of it!

The best part to me: Larry asked if she would be getting a makeover. Her response was something like: No. Why should I?

Hurray for Susan!

62. there won't be makeover as per judge on show
Meanwhile, Simon Cowell's fellow British judge Amanda Holden said Boyle would NOT be getting a makeover:

"She needs to stay exactly as she is because that's the reason we love her. She just looks like anybody who could live on your street.

"The minute we turn her into a glamour-puss is when it's spoilt. That can perhaps come later when she's signed the album deal and conquered America.

"For now we'll keep her exactly as she is because that's why we've all fallen in love with her. I think it's the underdog thing. It's somebody who's looked after her mother all her life."

He really came to hate ordinary Americans...every time one of them talked him into a corner he'd shout "You're an idiot" and cut off the call. By the end he wasn't saying much more than that. I'd fall asleep during his show only to be awakened every 5 minutes with "YOU'RE AN IDIOT!" Click. He definitely felt more at ease with ignorant but Important people.

Larry is hopeless. Ed Sullivan would have gotten her on immediately.

They live in a cocoon. They don't realize how big and fast this story is. This is the world we live in, where she was just a Scots woman a week ago tonight, and is now the biggest superstar in the world.

Even P. Diddy, in his cocoon, doesn't get it.

(Edie and her husband, the great Ernie Kovacs, had earlier done commercials for Dutch Masters Cigars)

BTW, Julie London has a slightly different image from Susan Boyle —

Edited to add:

He is one of the judges for the show. She had said that she "thought he was lovely." Kind of intimated that she has had a crush on him. She also had said that she curled her hair for the audition specially so she'd look nice for him.

She is such a darling thing.
