1. Good News!
I hope the western states are not left out.
In most areas there is no passenger rail service at all.

We lost many of our "low speed" rail(Amtrak) routes about 10-15 years ago.
I used to enjoy taking Amtrak's "Pioneer" from Boise to Portland.
It was a great ride, linking Portland with the West's great interior.

2. Same here.
It WILL take time for the infrastructure to get into place (nothing will change overnight, even if it was tried, so I do side with those who claim it'll take time, and the President has spoken of replacing the foundation from sand to rock -- forgive my lax memory, but he IS saying and certainly starting to do the right things.)

5. I'd be happy just to get our Amtrak back
The infrastructure (good sturdy tracks) are already there.

The Los Angeles - San Diego route is Amtrak´s most profitable; LA has added 650 miles of commuter rail and 200 miles of elevated, light rail and subway in the last 20 years. Rail is not dead in the West!

3. WAIT- WAIT!!!!! That will allow more people to travel on trains!
That would mean fewer cars on the roads.
That would mean jobs to build it all, and to staff the trains and stations.
That would mean less air pollution.
That might even mean lower fuel costs.

No wonder the Republicans hate Obama so much!
He's smart!
He's a Democrat!
He's Black!
He's doing the right things!

What a great President!

4. I wholly concur!
That's an obvious sign of greatness that the President is doing.

And while I'm worried about the jobs issue, I still think that WILL work out for the best.

7. I'm against the whole damned idea...
