Poll: Minnesotans want Coleman to concede

Norm Coleman doesn’t have much support back home for contesting the results of the Minnesota Senate race, according to a new poll of Minnesota voters conducted by Public Policy Polling.

The poll showed that 63 percent of Minnesota voters said they believe Coleman should concede the race to Democrat Al Franken, with just 37 percent supporting further appeals. And 59 percent said they want Gov. Tim Pawlenty to sign the certificate declaring Franken the winner.

“With the ruling of the three judge panel it appears that most Minnesota voters are now ready for this election be over,” said Public Policy Polling pollster Dean Debnam.

“Folks seem to think that Franken is the rightful winner and that he should be allowed to take his seat instead of the process being dragged out further.”

1. Won`t happen I`m afraid. As Franken said about Coleman when he recently held a presser:
“I’m sure that he’s made his mind up. I’m a pretty persuasive guy, but I don’t know if I could win that one with him.”

2. The republican party does not care what the people of Minnesota want.
They (republicks) want to seat colEMan and the election was just an inconvenience. Nothing a prolonged court case and millions of taxpayer dollars can't fix.

4. This isn't about what the people of Minnesota want
And hasn't been for months. No, this is about Republicans farting in the elevator. They don't care about the "will of the people" when the people's will is against them. They have the perfect opportunity to gum up the works, and all it will cost them is the amount of the tax cut Dick Cheney voted to give himself.

5. I wonder if Pawlenty is willing to put the final nail in his political career....
in order to do the GOP's bidding. I suppose if he is promised a high-paying job with either the RNC or one of their lobbyist firms he might feel it is worth it.

6. It looks as though he is. I believe he thinks that obstructing over ths
though it will end his MN political career, will bolster his cred nationally with repukes and the powers in the party.

13. Yes, I agree...
The irony is the US Senate can seat Franken at any time with or without the Governor's signature and I suspect they will do that once the last avenue of appeal in the State election process is exhausted, that being a ruling by the Minnesota Supreme Court so his 'sacrifice' will be for naught in the long run.

7. The longer they drag this out the worse they look...
And they looked bad enough already, judging from how they did nationwide this past November.

11. Nobody cares what Minnesotans want
At least, Norm Coleman doesn't care. By now, he's just extending it for the annoyance and interference.
