For those with WAMU accounts you don't use very often....

Just a heads up for those with WAMU accounts that you don't use very often (more specifically don't have direct deposit with).

Remember that very soon WAMU accounts will switch over officially to Chase accounts. WAMU had a nice tendancy not to charge many fees at all. Chase, on the other hand, has a nice tendancy to charge monthly "service" fees on accounts that lack certain traits, such as direct deposit.

So don't be caught off guard by this. I have already closed my WAMU accounts as I have no desire to bank with Chase.

2. I have a wamu account with less than $10

I had moved to a state that does not have any wamu branches..and I can't get them to close it without going to the original branch, which is 1500 miles away from where I live now.....

4. Send them a letter via postal mail

they will close it. It sounds like your account WILL be hit by fees when it becomes a Chase account.

3. We just dumped WAMU

We had to transfer funds from our IRA to cover our tax payments. WAMU said they wouldn't credit the deposit to our checking account until April 28 even though the check we gave them was from Smith Barney.
