"You libruls gotta stop blaming Bush!" --- she said to me
Spelled it like it sounded....

I got into a vigorous debate with a fundie acquaintance the other day, she ranted on about how she is so sick of those left wingers blaming everything on Bush. I won't rehash all of Rush's talking points that she spouted out, other than she said most of the economic problems started with President Clinton (never mind that he recorded the largest federal budget surplus in history).

My response was Shrub left us with not a minor wound, but a gaping wound that will take at least a generation to clean up --- a clusterfuck of monumental proportions!

I'm still very angry at what he did to our country; I now I picture him and Laura living in their little bubble of denial in Crawford TX.

Though I must admit, it is not healthy to carry around simmering anger. And I'll also own that apart from my fundie acquaintances delusional logic --- I did wonder if she had a point on what good raging on against Shrub served.

But what to do with my ol Bush rage...?

The conclusion I came to is I will let it go when I see Shrub, Shooter, and their minions in International Court being tried for war crimes - for violations of the Geneva Convention. Until the criminal cabal is held accountable, I can't let my anger or blame go.

Until then, guess I'll just go to yoga class and work on deep breathing. :)

2. Actually, he now lives in Dallas, TX
His house is a couple of miles down the street from my precinct, in a small two-street neighborhood that has been cordoned off from the rest of Dallas by police cruisers and Secret Service agents carrying submachine guns. Not even the Cub Scouts get any slack in trying to visit the neighborhood.

But your fundy neighbor is wrong - if Bush did it, then Bush gets the blame. Screw the Hague. We need to try him on American soil.

4. I stand corrected on where in TX
Thanks - honestly, I just assumed he was back on the ranch. I have not seen or heard about his whereabouts since he left the White House tarmac in a helicopter.

I too would rather see him/them tried on American soil, though if we look at probabilities - I believe there is a better chance that the international community will hold them accountable before our government will. Unless we find pics (and evidence) of Cheney himself hooking up a prisoner's genitals to battery cables at Gitmo, sadly I think they will skate.

3. I love the way
fundies get all upset when we blame shrubbo and gang for fucking up the nation but they still like to heap the shit on Clinton. As far as I'm concerned the best thing that Clinton ever did was rile up the fundies to the point where it caused a few of them to have fatal myocardial infarctions and strokes.

5. no one will hold Bush accountable in this country who is in power
they are too close to the same corporate shills who ran the GOP..
I have given up on hoping that the current DLC leadership do anything.
By not doing anything, they have legitimized everything his admin. has done.
'lets just move onnnn'...is their meme. no accountability.

7. Yeah if he's a fault then he deserves the blame
He could have resigned as president any time he wanted and avoided the blame that goes with failure of the job of president.

10. it's ridiculous!! when my kid writes all over my wall with crayons and highlighters....
when am i going to stop blaming it on my kid that it is all over my walls?? i have tried to clean it off, but even magic eraser can't get highlighter off the wall!! so, is it no longer their fault it is there, then?? it makes no sense. it seems from bush's own history that he has made a lot of messes and left others to clean them up. so it's not like a big surprise he left a big steaming pile of you know what in his wake. but even as obama attempts to clean it up, it does not become obama's mess. it is still bush's mess. and yes, it did start a LONG time ago long before bush. but it's still bush's mess.... because he exacerbated it and made it a lot worse than it ever had to be just by his lack of regulation and lack of oversight of the financial industry.

13. Unfortunately, she's partially right about Clinton
Edited on Tue Apr-14-09 11:44 PM by jimlup
Though not in a way that she would be capable of actually understanding. Your retort of course is that Reagan/"Bush the first" started it but even that isn't really true. Carter ... oh, whatever ... they've all been in bed with Wall Street.

14. if they collect alimony or support, perhaps THEY should be willing
to forgive and forget...and let those men off the hook..
or maybe their boss is having a hard time paying them.. maybe they should cut him some slack, and take some non-paid days off...
