Al expresses his thanks, and yes, he does hope folks will donate to the ongoing effort to defend his victory in the courts. Personally, because this is such a pivotal matter, I think there's no place else that your spare ten or twenty could go further.

Dear Friend,

For all of us in Minnesota and around the country who have waited for a final result in our razor-tight Senate race, yesterday was an important and exciting day.

The last few ballots were counted last week, and yesterday the election contest court cemented our victory. After a fair, transparent, and quite lengthy process, our margin of victory stands at 312 votes. And for that, I owe you more thanks than I could ever express. This has been an amazing campaign, and Franni and I will never forget how hard we all worked together to achieve this important win.

As you can imagine, I'm anxious to get to work on behalf of the people of Minnesota, fighting for affordable health care, clean energy, and an economy that works for everyone.

After all, as Paul Wellstone said, politics isn't about winning. It's about the improvement of people's lives. And this long, careful process - while it has helped to give everyone confidence in the election's outcome - has delayed my seating in Washington and kept me from getting to work.

Many of you have expressed your frustration that Norm Coleman and national Republicans seem so intent on continuing to prevent Minnesota from having two Senators. Believe me, I understand that frustration, and I do hope they will let Minnesota's decision stand. Political gamesmanship won't change the fact that we got more votes in this election -- and it won't help a single Minnesota family.

But I can't control what Norm Coleman decides to do now. All I can do is to continue to prepare myself to fight for Minnesota families starting the very minute I'm sworn in. In the meantime, I need to rely on your continued support to continue our defense of the victory we earned together.

I'm confident that our victory will stand. After all, this has been the most scrutinized election in our state's history, and our win yesterday is just another vindication of the work our elections officials did to determine who won.

But it's expensive to keep defending our win in court. And we need your continued support so that our legal team can continue its work.
