Some DUers were a bit put off about him having a couple of righties and one lefty in one segment last night. He indicated it was the luck of the draw and that he will have more liberals on.

1. Ed is more comfortable with the righties
After all, he was one all of his life until the radio opportunity for some bucks landed in his lap. Complete phoney.

2. Prove that he's a phony.

Prove that he was a "righty" "all his life."

He used to be a Republican, but so have a lot of Democrats these days.

You can't prove your smear.

5. If you want to know why you should be suspicious of "ex Republicans"
Look no further than the DLC or the BlueBalls.

It doesn't make any goddamn sense to call yourself a "Democrat" unless you're going to ACT like one, unless deception is the whole point.

As for Schultz..... he's better now than he used to be, but the second half of his TV show yesterday - with the reich wing tools on it - was less than impressive.

And yes, he was a right wing talk show host a few years ago. Heard that directly from someone in Detroit Lakes MN.

6. I believe Ed himself talked about those days on his radio show.
He was pretty much ordered to parrot the right wing talking points when he was Right Wing Ed, but eventually got fed up with it and quit.

Yes, there are some folks who were once righties, but have a genuine change of heart.

7. "he's better now than he used to be"
So what Republican talking points has he supported lately?

You imply that he's under suspicion because he used to be a Republican years ago.

So how is he not "acting like a Democrat?"

Give me an example.

9. So Should We Be Suspicious Of David Brock & Media Matters?
Now who determines who "acts" like a Democrat or not? Not that I agree with many positoins of DLCers, but they still belong to the party and deserve to be heard. I draw the line when they play voting bloc games, but the way to end this is not to shut them out, but to find better candidates to run in primaries. You're not going to have a party this huge and diverse without one group or another making some noise. The opposite is having a lock-step party like we saw across the aisle that still continues to go off the abyss. No sooner way to let the GOOP back into the game than to start going after those who don't walk the same walk you or others do.

Schultz doesn't represent the same radio listeners most other Progressive/Liberal hosts do...and that's been his strongest asset. He's built a strong career and network reaching the moderates and independents that have been alienated by the hate of the rushpublicans and aren't comfortable with the high-powered rhetoric of a Randi Rhodes or the high brow of a Thom Hartmann.

For years, Ed did a local show out of Fargo (near his Dulluth Lakes home) that he still does...it was primarily local but reflected a conservative view...not unlike a John Tester or Mark Udall, they come from areas where they rarely hear much of anything but Rushbo and his ilk.

I had my reservations about Schultz in the past, but I've seen him stand consistantly for some strong Democratic values...especially unions and health care. The more advocates we have for these very important issues, the better.

3. I tend to believe Ed...that he had an emotional moment of truth...
...and it wasn't about bucks landing in his lap. Of course, feel free to prove otherwise. I'll stick with his story on this.

8. So, NBC/GE will 'play along' in perpetuating the "liberal media" myth, and ALLOW Ed those guests
Because the TV pundits don't decide anything. The owners and editors do.
