President Gingrich in 2012?
Edited on Tue Apr-07-09 12:46 PM by Cyrano
Newt, like the entire Republican Party, lives in a parallel universe. He really believes that he can become President of the United States

And as much as we’d like to believe that could never happen, remember that Americans elected Saint Ronald Reagan – twice. And they didn’t take to the streets with pitchforks when George Bush stole it – twice.

So here’s my question. Does anyone believe that Newt could ever become president? Please convince me that this is an impossibility before I take my cyanide capsule.

2. He could become the party's nominee

But only through back room dealings, not through an open voting process.

And he would never be elected to office, he doesn't have enough support.

3. Newt has more baggage then a loaded 747 Plane
Newt's personal history is toxic ... he would be lucky to win Georgia.

4. No. People didn't much like him when he was speaker, dogging Clinton.
Ten or so years out of office as a has-been won't change that. And he's got unseemly skeletons in his closet.

5. Too old, too out of touch, too fanatic, divorced too many times.
If Newt Gingrich and Sarah Whackjob are the GOP's best hopes, the Republican party better get used to the sidelines for a long time.

6. Too much baggage -- even for freepers.
Compiling Newt's contradictions would make a solid documentary.

7. If the economy doesn't improve by 2012 voters will be out for blood.
Luckily, history tells us that we should be in the midst of a strong recovery by that time.

One of my fears is that employment will lag far behind and we will still be experiencing a "jobless recovery" in 2012.

13. Bush was never elected president
He was appointed by the Supreme Court in 2000, and in 2004 the Ohio vote was the result of rigged voting machines and voter disenfranchisement.

Two of the last three presidential elections were stolen.

I really need someone to convince me that the collection of misfits, rednecks, psychos and just plain evil people that comprise the Republican party can't once again seize the oval office.

19. That's right and by doing so the gop has shown they can get damn near anyone
in that office. Think about it. * was the most unqualified person to ever hold the office of President. After getting him in it's all downhill from here. It may not happen in 4 years or even 8. Poppy and his henchmen will slowly die off. But a new generation will slowly take over. Those are the ones to watch for.

No way will Newt Do-As-I-Say-And-Not-As-I-Do Gingrich ever cast his shadow on elected office again. His closet is full of skeletons, and the door's been open for years.

The GOP will run Jindal to counter the independantly running Sarah Palin and Mitt Romney. Mittens will partner with Jindal giving both the religious, economic, and social branches what they want. This is FAR more dangerous than Newt.
