...not just on DU, but across the fucking country.

Has it ever occurred to you cynics, so quick with the "lockstepping" label, that after 8 years of Bush/Cheney, we have GOOD REASON to be overjoyed that President Obama is representing us at home and overseas? Don't you remember what the Office of the Presidency was like only 70 days ago? If you suggest there's no difference at all (as some have already done), all I can say is, you're either blind or being purposely obtuse. There was a HUGE difference.

My take on this brouhaha is that it is ABSOLUTELY REASONABLE to be kvelling with pride right now over Barack Obama. No one knows how our attitude will change in the next four years, but for now, it is perfectly understandable--I'd be surprised if we WEREN'T posting praise for our new president every day, considering what the last eight years of our lives have been like. And I've been told I'm quite the cynical bastard!

If such behavior bothers you, all I can say is, you'd better tough it out, 'cause most of DU and most of America is STILL getting used to saying "President Obama" and not "President Bush." In a year or so, who knows? But for now I'm enjoying the optimism, blind though it may be.
