I too had great hope for Obama, but with Team Obama`s New Plan
for Afghanistan {a disaster in search of a strategy} and
Geitner`s complicity with and covering up for the corporate

131. I agree!!
The election's over; we got the best man. Now we need to make our voices heard loudly to him about the things we are not happy with. There is a huge protest of the banking industry bail-outs and the financial mess our government's allowed to be made of our economy around the country on April 11. Mine's in Sacramento...

73. Only if you insist.....
...on defining yourself as such.

This..."Me too, I voted for him and don't regret it 1 bit"

...does not translate into this..."I guess that makes me a fascist Obama-hating repuke liar who should be sent to Gitmo."

..because this...."My brain still works though and I don't agree with everything his admin is doing."

...is not who Obama's supporters are targeting. As soon as people who think like yourself realize the difference, perhaps those like yourself will stop coming to the defense and rescue of the obvious trolls. A jaywalker does not defend a bank robber just because they both broke the law. It really does have something to do with the degree of offense, and there is most certainly a huge difference in constructive criticism and/or concern, and what this board is witnessing courtesy of an anti-Obama faction bent on derailing his presidency. Thanks.

135. 100% correct.
The Obama supporters are targeting "It has been 2 and 1/2 months and he has not fixed everything I think is wrong." "He is not doing what I want him to do despite what he said during the campaign he would do." "He is doing what he SAID he would do - what a NERVE!" "Whaddya MEAN he isn't as far left as DK? That isn't the change I voted for." ....Those are what the supporters are targeting.

Legitimate disagreement is absolutely expected and, actually, welcome and necessary. The above examples are not legitimate disagreement. They are bashing. Nothing more.

So, I'm not sure why a lot of people have their panties in a twist.

I criticize my husband when I think he's wrong, but that doesn't mean I want to be married to someone else.

There are some infantile people here who think that we have to spend all day mooning over pictures of Obama and sighing at his every word -- or that we hate him and wish John McCain had been elected.

That is a very middle-school kind of attitude.

Will does his work well, has been doing it well since DU started, and he gets the recognition for it.
You shouldn't let it get under your skin since he decided to just "weigh in" on this one.

still stunned that Obama is actually President....and the next instant, I am supremely happy and excited. Do I agree with everything the President says or does? No, of course not, but at least the grown-ups are now in charge, and America has definately changed course. (Oddly, we have GWB to thank for this.) I've been around a long time, and have never been this excited about the direction of my country. I am not a blind loyalist, but I am loyal to the tenets of the Democratic Party and to Progressivism, and I see my country headed toward liberalism....progressivism may take more time, but with Obama's election I am sure we will get there eventually...in time for my kids, and my grandkids.

31. Especially After The Last 8 Years
I have a friend who worked his ass off to get BO elected. He met him a few times and now.....he sounds like a crazy person because, it turns out, Obama isn't doing everything he said he would and he's mad because Obama is doing stuff, he always said he would do....ie Afghanistan.

He's twisting himself up in knots - wanting a revolution. Shit, it there was a time when we should have gone nuts on our government, it was during 2001-2008...and we didn't. Sure there were protests, but I was by myself and hugely disappointed in my friends who were ho hum....can't miss a day of work to protest the illegal invasion of another country.

The rest of the world protested and they too were blown off by the American president. Why would he listen to them, they don't vote in the US.

I'm with you - I'm glad it's Obama. He makes me want to be a better person and I think he instills that in those lucky enough to be around him. Possibly even those who wrote bad laws in previous decades and now know they fucked up big time.

I'm off to Home Depot now to get an old wooden whiskey barrel to start my compost in.

88. Is it because of the last eight years that Obama looks so good?
I certainly preferred Obama to the viable Republican alternatives. But his shortcomings and the special interests who have captured him are apparent. It is true that Lincoln was our greatest president but his Department of Interior policies to the Indians was atrocious he also saw fit to suspend rule of law had Maryland state legislators arrested so that they wouldn't vote to secede from the Union..

47. He's pro-offshoring, but if he can put good jobs into America again, I'll be happy.
At this point, I'm about to give up on IT. I've a lot of skills and if IT will be gone in 5 years, I'll have other means to pull my own weight.

48. Obama is part of the system...
In our current climate, there's no other way anyone can become President. It is a system that is broken, that favors wealth and influence, and has serious inequities in opportunity and justice.

I don't believe he is going to drastically change or transform this. But from what I've seen, I believe he is sincere in his motivation to improve the system from within, and make it work better for everyone. And he's shown himself to be a master at the political game.

For the previous eight years, we have had an administration not content to merely uphold the status quo, but hell bent on making things much worse. The degree to which they succeeded shows in the mess that Obama has inherited.

Sure, I would like to see a far more progressive head of state. But for the time being, I too am glad to have Obama in the White House.

Now I know the whole bailout of wall street is very controversial but you do have consider the no win situation Obama is in when it comes to that. Those banks don't deserve another penny yet at the same time, they are holding our economy hostage. So if Obama gives them the money, he looks like he's pro wall street and if he doesn't, the economy crumbles even more and everyone blames HIM for it.

It isn't a popular thing he's doing but it's probably about the only thing he can do. But I would like to see him fire some of those guys too, just as he did with Rick Wagoner.

127. I really like him.
So charismatic, intelligent, diplomatic. I live in Europe, and am proud to be associated with him. He represents us as I would have us represented.

To let the President know what's on your mind, it's great to email him at whitehouse.gov. I think he sincerely wants to know what we are thinking, because we are part of the solutions he must find. This is a very constructive way to support the president and offer your insights at the same time.

They are counting those emails "for" and "against". even though Barack Obama can't please all of us all of the time, he wants to hear from us. When he does/says something you like/don't like, tell him.

Agree with him. Disagree with him. But don't miss your opportunity to help shape policy.
