1. Wow. I just don't know what to say about any of it.
But, for starters, it's the literal description of the ol' "it's the least I could do" cliche.

Edited on Tue Mar-31-09 09:38 PM by Vanje
a few years ago. This was me.

I had food the month before.
I had food the month after.,
But I did not have any food at all for a few weeks.
Owned a car.
Owned a little house.
No job.
No money. Not even a quarter. None.
When I couldnt stand it anymore, I called the local food bank. It took all my pride. It wounded. I feel it still. So humiliating. I might as well have saved my pride.
They had no food. They were closed for Christmas holiday.
A food bank from the next town over would not feed out-of-towners. Just as well, I didnt have the gas to get there and back.

There is an Amanda Putur in Beverly Mass, and there is a Stanley J Putur in Beverly Mass.
However, there are TWO Amandas, one born in 1970 and the other in 1924; what is the likelihood of Stanley's ex-wife having the same name as his mother?
There is one Stanley, born 1924, and he's in Beverly Mass though not at the same address as either Amanda.
There is also a Stanley J Putur, no birthdate given in Portsmouth NH, but not on Back River Rd. There is a house at 22 Back River Road, built after 2004.

Stanley Putur aged 43 of Beverly MASS comes up in a Reunion.com search as does an Evelyn Putur of Portsmouth NH

I googled the address and it shows as a hair salon. Charleen's Hairstyling. I think it's best for people to donate to the food bank and possibly alert them about the situation. Maybe they have an outreach person who could find this man if the information given is true.

my BIL (dh's oldest bro) is on crack. There was a period of time where he was homeless - plundered through restaurant dumpsters for food, even slept in a few and you know those little sugar packets you get at McDonald's for coffee? Well, he'd steal those by the pocket ful and would eat them when there was nothing else and no way to feed his habit.

sigh....

A loaf of bread and some peanut butter costs so little. If the story is false then only $5-6 dollars lost but if the story is true, some starving person will have a full belly for a day or two.

There is also the Food Bank of Delaware: http://www.fbd.org/ They have referrals for other services, too.

If you are hungry or otherwise in need of assistance, please call the Delaware Helpline at 1-800-464-HELP. Click here to visit the Delaware Helpline web site for more information and helpful resources.

Is anyone willing to contact them and alert them to this issue?

48. I live in the area, so I went and checked this out.
I live in this general region, so I drove over to the address listed. It was a house with a for sale sign out front and another house being constructed behind it. The house looked empty, no shades on the windows, but there were signs of habitation, a grill on the porch and a lawnmower stashed under the porch. I saw someone inside so I went and knocked on the door. A man answered the door asked how he could help me. I said "This is kind of weird..." and went on to explain what I had seen here and at craigslist. He told me that he owned that house and the property behind that was being developed and that a Stanely Putur was staying there. He was not aware that Stanely was having any sort of difficulties. I left some information on how to contact the Dover Food Pantry and he said he would give it to Mr. Putur.

<shrug>

With the posting being deleted at Craigslist I don't know what to think. Parts of the story check out, but it's not clear (at least to me) that Putur is in as dire straights as the craigslist posting made it seem.

Okay... I saw on the high school page someone referred to earlier her e-mail address. Taking out the "j" middle initial I found a YouTube page of an "aputer" who has listed nothing but videos of animals and those related to the high school in Beverly, aside from one about a fire. The one she posted most recently is of animals she and others have rescued from craigslist: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RffOwhSmeBw This might explain why she used craigslist to ask for help if she's been doing the helping for others on that site.
