Entergy, your friend in the high priced energy market.... then
there are the co-ops who truly are friendly with bills a mere fraction of what Entergy charges for their services. I personally know people with electric bills that run into the hundreds of dollars per month, and I don't mean 2 or 3 hundred. This gives me a wtf moment everytime I think about it.

Gas bills bring shock to residents
By Pam Radtke Russell
Business writer

Like hundreds of other people throughout the metro area, Robyn Flannery has been shocked by her recent power bills topping $700.

But Flannery, whose gas bill alone has been more than $500, barely has gas service at her 1,400-square-foot home.

An alternative where available.....

Established in 1937, SLEMCO serves over 80,000 customers via 8,400 miles of energized transmission and distribution lines.

SLEMCO also plays an active role in the southwest Louisiana communities it serves through its scholarship programs, endowed professorships, Operation Round-Up grants to needy individuals and aggressive economic development activities.

1. Any chance they could set up a sister co-op in the metro area?
A whiff of competition would do Entergy a heap of good.

But Flannery, whose gas bill alone has been more than $500, barely has gas service at her 1,400-square-foot home.

18 months on, some neighborhoods barely have gas service. I do not mean Lower Nine or N.O. East. Rumor has it that Entergy does not plan to restore gas to the area along Canal St. between the CBD and Mid-City, known as Tulane/Gravier! :grr:
