Morning Joe is like a wake this morning
lots of silence about what to say about the Republican counter budget "plan" that has NO NUMBERS in it

Just showed Boehner being asked if they would oppose all further bailout plans. Boener, "Hmmm We'll see."

Silence

Just tried to attack Gibbs ...... now more silence

1. Are you aware of the etymology of the term "wake" . . .?
In times of olde, sometimes ale was riddled by a fungus that reacted with pewter mugs.

People would sometimes go into a deep coma.

They'd lie them on the kicthen table and party until they waited for them to wake up. . . or not.

Too bizarre.

14. Common folk etymology, but incorrect.
"Wake" in this sense is from OE wōc, and wacian, 'stay awake, keep a vigil.' It's cognate with German wachen, 'to guard, to keep watch', as in the old German song "Die Wacht am Rhein". The term refers to staying up with the corpse and the relatives, so that neither would be alone.

In the NE of the UK 'wake' is another word for a festival or feast day of a parish's patron saint, which would like all Church festivals and feasts, begin at nightfall on the preceding day and go through the night. Here there is clearly no expectation that anyone's waking up.

10. Give 'Em Time...The Talking Points Must Have Been Delayed
One day we'll be grateful for the "fine job" Boner is doing to destroy what crediibiity his inept party still holds with all but the most rabid wingnuts. He's still going by the 80's playbook of "Raygunism" that sure worked great then, why shouldn't it now? Raygun was light with facts as well, but everyone "loved" him that he was still able to move mountains and be a superhuman...all by "lowering taxes" and "less government"...the two ingredients these shitstains still haven't figured out caused the mess we're in now.

The only plan they have is the one they've had in this party for the past 40 years...hatred, fear and lies.

16. Sure...
Even in being clueless and speechless, they need talking points for that.

Guess the budget plan wasn't approved by Rushbo.

BTW...there's Billy the Bloody Kristol on WJ. I find it interesting that he's being pitted with someone, not getting an hour to spew his bullshit without someone calling him on it. Skully looks like he's got a chubby.

(and don't dare ask if he's circumsized or not!)

15. LOL! Even Bush knew a budget was supposed to have numbers in it.
“It's clearly a budget. It's got a lot of numbers in it.” -Governor George W. Bush, May 5, 2000.

Boehner is officially dumber than Bush.

23. Noonan and Scarborough kept commiserating about how
Rs should stand up and state a position from the heart that they believe in, like that British pol who raked Brown across the coals the other day. That the Rs should have given specifics in their little "budget" and rationales. Problem is that the R media mouthpieces like Noonan and Scarborough don't recognize that the party is morally and intellectually bankrupt. They have nothing to say beyond a couple of old standards that have gone out of style. No content. No "there" there. Teaching them rhetoric, per Barnacle's suggestion, would be simply to reinvent Newt. Even the R media cannot distill ideas from the current ravings of the R leadership.
