I'm of two minds about the newly fanged and somewhat responsible behavior coming from the WH Press
On the one hand, it's about time they did their job, but damn, where the hell were they in the last eight years?

1. Yeah
I mean, for all their pointed questions last night, I thought President Obama did a pretty good job of parrying them and giving thoughtful, complete answers, even to Chuck Todd's dimwitted question (which, significantly in my opinion, Todd didn't showcase in his little recap this morning on the Today show). So I'm not too worried that they'll "get" the president; he's smarter than them, and shooting from the lip ("Bring it on" and "Now watch this drive") doesn't seem to be in his nature.

But what might have been avoided in the last eight years if the press corpse had been even half this animated for Chimpy and his stooges? A veiled threat here (people who ask hard questions "have been noted in the building"), a "cute" nickname there ("Stretch"), and they all rolled over like eager puppies, piddling on themselves in their desire to please. Meanwhile, trillions of dollars were pissed away, millions of lives were lost, thousands of soldiers didn't come home, and hundreds of people were incarcerated without warrant or hope of release, tortured, and killed.

Thanks a fucking heap, ABC, CBS and NBC. I hope the money in your pockets can soak up some of the blood in there.

3. I hope the networks that fellated Dumbya all those years go down in bankruptcy
Maybe then, we can have truly public airwaves. Just a thought.

2. Obama got challenged by the WH press corps more last night
than Bush did in his entire 8 years. And he never even broke a sweat.

I love my President.

4. The questions Obama got last night were hardballs--but really, really REALLY stupid ones.

W got really, really, really inane SOFTball questions.

I'd like a press that knows it's stuff and isn't afraid to ask it--I may have been about 12 when it happened, maybe not that old, even, but I remember very, very well when Helen Thomas asked "What did the President know and when did he know it?"

Now, THAT'S what I'm talkin' 'bout.

5. I like the questions that people...
ask at the Town Halls. I think sometimes they are more pertinent than the one's the press asks. I wish that someone would have asked why he chose the economic plan he did. I know people here have already made up their minds about that, but I would like to have heard his reasoning. He reminds me of a teacher when he does any kind of Q & A.

6. It's not that they sometimes take their job seriously and sometimes not
They just support republicans in any way they can.

They're aggressive toward Democrats. That's all.

8. Good observation. I agree. But I think they
are really overdoing it.

They act like they don't realize what is at stake now.
